Outfit Remix: Farm Chick vs Chic

overalls-remix

Remember the outfit on the left? Well, here are my new short-alls again, except shown in a dressier manner. I wanted to see if I could style them so that they would be appropriate for a night out, so I went with my silk tank top and belt that I wore here. If you were going to wear these short-alls, even if they aren’t your style, which version would you wear? Farm chick or chic?

My Outfits:

Left: Listed here.

Right:

Short-alls: Thrifted, Beacon’s Closet

Tank: Club Monaco

Belt: Thrifted, Beacon’s Closet

Shoes: Vintage Ferragamo heels, Beacon’s Closet

My Outfit: Bright Blue Belt

bluebelt-blackskirt

Last week, during the crazy heat wave that Seattle experienced, I found some solace from the 100 degree weather and escaped into a very air conditioned Barnes and Noble for a few hours to get some work done. Afterwards I met my parents for dinner at a noodle restaurant across the way, but not before ducking into the H&M next door. I promised myself I was just going to browse, but instead ended up leaving with this fantastic bright blue belt. I love it because the band is elastic, which is perfect for high waisted skirts that don’t have belt buckles—it stays put without any effort. Plus, it’s colorful and fun, perfect for summer!s

My Outfit:

Necklace: My Grandmother’s watch on a chain

Belt: H&M

Skirt: F21

Bracelet: Gift from my Auntie

Outfit Remix: Top to Bottom

beacons-skirt-three-ways

I first posted about this outfit a few weeks ago and loved the skirt/top so much that I decided to wear it to happy hour drinks with friends. It was a muggy evening and I wanted to make sure I stayed cool, so I slipped the skirt up over my waist—leaving my shoulders bare— and tucked it in to short shorts. I topped the whole look with a chunky turquoise necklace and my trusty hat, and I was ready to roll! Which of these three remixes is your favorite? xoxo

Remix: Dreaming of September

Picture 5

Happy Friday, lovelies! First and foremost, I just want to say thanks so much for reading the blog and for all your support and kind words. And, now I give you, the final ensemble! A little background on this outfit: Don’t get me wrong, I love summer, and warm, sunny days. But, when the humidity hits, I begin daydreaming about the perfect brisk days of fall, autumn colors, and “back to school” outfits…especially ones that involve oxford heels. And, if you are an avid reader of my blog, you already know how I feel about oxfords. That is what inspired this last outfit. The crisp colors in the top made me immediately want to pair it with my high-waisted, navy blue skirt, which really made the stripes pop. I feel like this little number would be perfect for a lovely day in late September, early October. Tights would be a cute addition as well. But, I’m getting a little head of myself, so since it is still summer, this outfit would be great for the office (maybe don’t bare your shoulder, instead add a blazer!) or to a hip art gallery opening in Chelsea.

Remix: I Heart NY

Picture 4

Here is ensemble #2! Let me tell you, working with acid wash jeans is a challenge within itself. I wanted to give the jeans a completely different look the second time around, but trying to neutralize them and make them look casual was definitely a tricky task. So, in order to do this, I decided to pair them with solid colors and plain ballet flats. The basic black blazer and white tee help ground the busy pattern of the jeans so that the overall look is, yes, fairly downtown-hipster, but also more casual and dressed down, perfect for a day of shopping in the LES!

Necklace: ?

Jeans: Mandee’s

Shirt: Store in Chinatown circa 2004

My Outfit: Graphic Skirt, Version #1

blk-wh-graphic1

As I’m sure you all know, I have about a million of these fun, flirty skirts from F21. You might recognize my pink and black version here. But, I had yet to wear the black and white one very often, so I thought it was high time I debuted it. I’m sort of loving how each photo is sort of blown out. It really makes the graphic print of this skirt pop! Anyway, this is how I decided to wear it. It was perfect for the hot and muggy weather NYC has been having, but in this outfit, I felt light ‘n breezy. Stay tuned for version #2, remix style!

Outfit Remix: Party to Park

Item: Black Romper from Forever 21.

Left Photo: I wore this up to Central Park to spend a lovely day in the park and to mingle with fellow fashionistas/bloggers at the Weardrobe Meet ‘n Greet! (More photos to come!) I decided to wear brown gladiators, (later I decided to slip on my gold Dolce Vita sandals) and a yellow and gold belt to accent the straw fedora.

Right Photo: This is the original outfit, that I first debuted on my Birthday party night. Because it was a dressier occasion, I wanted to look demure yet sexy. I think the best color pairing when going for this look, is to wear nude/cream colored accents against black. In this case, I simply added a similar colored belt and heels, which I felt really popped against the black romper.
