Southwest Style

b74e9b3e98e083f700fd300ceba6ead7

Guess who’s flying out to Santa Fe tomorrow?! ME! I’m pretty excited to have a change of scenery that is so drastically different than the two coasts that I call my homes. I’m looking forward to desert, dry heat, large open spaces, turquoise… Yep, you could say I’m super stoked.

So I thought instead of sharing outfit photos today, I would do a little roundup of some inspiration photos that I found on Pinterest that struck me as very Southwest meets Boho-chic, if you will.

I’ll be honest, I packed extremely light for this trip home to Seattle and Santa Fe, but I brought with me a few brightly colored dresses, a pair of fringed boots and a couple of hats, which I plan on wearing all this week, so I promise to share a bunch of outfit photos this Thursday as well as next week too.

I also plan on doing some light shopping in Santa Fe and Taos, hopefully snagging another piece of turquoise jewelry, since I absolutely love the ring my parents bought for me from their last trip to Santa Fe, and maybe an accessory or two (read more boots and hats).

Anyhoo, here are some photos that are inspiring me at the moment. Stay tuned for my YouTube video tomorrow, which will share what I am bringing with me on my trip, as well as the usual Weekly Edit blog post, which will feature more shoppable Southwest-inspired, must-have pieces for the wardrobe! xo

In case you haven’t seen my turquoise ring that I am referring to above – here is a photo of it below.

We made a new friend while taking photos.

Doesn’t he look just like the lion sculpture in the background? Same stance and everything.

And he’s done with us, onto the next interesting thing…

A while back I posted this photo as inpsiration because I loved that she wore her Danskos with such style. I was determined to try and do the same with mine, and was pretty satisfied with the final look. I think I’ll start wearing them more when running around the city.  I know my feet will definitely thank me…

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! xoxo

I am in love with this hairdo. I think it looks so chic and fresh, so when I got dressed to wander around the city on Saturday with A, I was determined to recreate the look the best I could. It took a few tries and I still need some practice, but I was pretty pleased with the final outcome.

As for the outfit…I paired my new sheer maxi with denim and army green, but am looking forward to lightening it up with a cropped tee and woven wedges. Hurry up, spring! xoxo

*On a separate outfit note, I meant to post these leather trench photos last week, but I guess better late than never, right?

(Click here to see how I wore this same trench with Converse high tops!)

Inspired By: Miss Kendi Lea

This outfit was directly inspired by what Kendi wore yesterday. Is that creepy? I hope not, because I am constantly inspired by my blogger buddies and this time was no different. That is how smitten I was over her outfit. Also, I love black and tan together, as well as animal printed blouses, so I dug around in my closet and this is what I came up with.

P.S. I now need a shirt with foxes on it, like this one!

Some Style Inspiration.

Here are two looks I plan on recreating. The first photo was shot by The Sartorialist and I haven’t been able to stop coming back to it. I think it’s because I own Dansko clogs and used to wear them as a waitress back in college, so I always forget that they can be worn in different ways besides just for food service purposes. However, in reality I should really be taking style cues from my Mom who rocks these clogs like no other, so I’ve decided I am going to as well. Definitely looking forward to this outfit recreation.

The second image I found on Pinterest (I love this site—check out my profile—and you should join if you haven’t already!) via Poppytalk. What an easy and chic outfit! I have similar jeans from Tory Burch that are loud and extremely patterned and I have been trying to think of creative ways to style them up. Miss Moss gave me just the inspiration I needed. Stripes! Stripes seem to be my answer to everything when it comes to clothing. Good thing I own a lot of these types of tops…

Hair: All Knotted Up

hair knot

I’ve seen this photo floating around the web for a couple months now, but when it resurfaced on Joanna’s blog this morning, I became intrigued with it and wanted to learn how to recreate this pretty, double knotted hairdo.  A  few clicks deep, I came across a link that a reader had left on Hanneli’s blog that directed me over to AOL’s  Stylelist. In a nutshell, you literally split your into two sections and double-knot it like a shoelace. I tried it quickly and it worked! I just need to spritz my hair with some saltwater, or use Bumble and Bumble’s Surf Spray to add texture and hold.

I can see this becoming  a pretty regular look, maybe a chic alternative to the ponytail that I wear almost every day. :)

A Little Inspiration For A Rainy Week

This week it’s supposed to rain like crazy, so when the weather gets me down (and threatens to drown my camera on its tripod), I look to my favorite street style photographers for a little suss to get me through the glum weather. Here are a few of my favorites from around the web. xoxo

This maple-colored cropped leather jacket and nubby gray scarf makes for a yummy autumnal combo.

I was considering returning to bangs for the fall, but this girl’s striking middle part and long flowing waves has me thinking twice!

Have a Sweet Weekend!

Photo via The Sartorialist

My schedule took on quite a different pace over the past few days and I just wasn’t able to photograph all my outfits, so I apologize for the lack of posts. But, I at least wanted to share a couple of photos that caught my eye as I was browsing the web today.

Photo via Hanneli

Stay tuned next week, as I plan on having a plethora of outfit photos to share with you! In the meantime, I hope you all have a lovely weekend filled with relaxation and fun. I plan on hanging with A and heading to a picnic festival, venturing to Ikea via the ferry, exploring Prospect Park in Brooklyn, and BBQing on our friends balcony. Stay cool and I’ll see you bright ‘n early Monday morning! xoxo

P.S. Check out Hanneli.com. She writes a gorgeous style/fashion/photography blog. Definitely worth taking a peek.
