You guys remember these three items, right? My floral sundress, blue skirt and, of course, my Melissa shoes! Well, ever since I got my little denim skirt back from my Grandmother—shortened and, in my opinion, much more flattering—I decided to have some fun with layering different pieces under it. In this case, I wanted to play with items I had already worn and blogged about and see if I could consolidate multiple pieces into one single outfit. Et, volia! This ensemble is my first go at it. The best part? I got to try out my new purple Melissa shoes! To see the full outfit, click below!
My After Outfit: Sweet Sundress
The other night I went and had the most yummy meal at Bastille and then went out for drinks in Ballard. I decided I wanted to dress up for fun so I chose my newly hemmed dress that I found at B.E. Remember how it originally looked? Thanks to my lovely Grandmother, it is now a few inches shorter and much more wearable. I did, however, get a few comments regarding the ribbon on the original hem, asking if I was going to keep it, but I decided that the dress was more versatile with just the two colors— blue and white. (I think I will do something fun with the leftover fabric…maybe I will make a new band for my hat!) What do you think of the yellow belt? I think it helped make the whole dress pop, but may try other options in the future. Also, don’t you love those crisscross straps? And, how great is it when dresses and skirts have pockets? It’s my favorite thing.
All in all, I had a great time out on the town and felt pretty as a princess all night long!
P.S. Check out the original photo here. Side note…the dress is actually a deeper navy, but for some reason in the photo above it looks lighter…blame it on the glorious sunlight I guess! :)
My Before Outfit: Blue Skirt
I love this whole outfit, but am going to love it even more after the skirt is hemmed up a bit. I feel very 1950s in this get-up and am really enjoying it. This morning I am off to coffee with my Mom and a close family friend, and then afterward I plan on swinging into Buffalo Exchange to check on a pair of black oxford flats that I saw not too long ago. Fingers crossed they are still there!
P.S. I think my Grandmother is close to being finished with hemming the rest of my dresses, so stay tuned for a bunch of fun “After” photos!
My Before Outfit: Sweet Sundress
Isn’t this the sweetest little sundress you’ve ever seen? I am in love. I almost walked right past it in Buffalo Exchange but was so taken by the pattern and the crisscross straps in the back (photos to come) that I thought I’d just try it on for fun. Yay for me it actually fit and with a few inchaes taken off the bottom, it will be perfect! My lovely Grandmother volunteered to do hem it, along with a couple of my other dresses, so I am dropping them off today and should have them back later this week. So excited! Stay tuned!
My Before Outfit: Zigzag Dress
I used to wear this dress a lot, but recently I saw a photo of me wearing it and was not impressed. Again, because of my height, I feel it really does comes down to length of a dress or skirt and whether it’s flattering. I have come to terms with the fact that I can either do above the knee or below the ankle. So, here is the before look, but stay tuned for the (much cuter, I hope) after outfit!

My After Outfit: September Stripes
I am LOVING the shorter length of my new dress! Don’t get me wrong, I like to switch it up and wear longer skirts from time to time—kudos to those ladies that have lovely long legs who always look so demure in their below the knee skirts (jealous!)—but, I do know what works on my body and it is important to work with what you have, wear styles that flatter you, and love whatcha momma gave you…so, I will continue to strive for that. OK. With that said, that is only my personal opinion, so tell me dearies, what do you think of this new length? And as always, please keep it nice ‘n sweet!

My Before Outfit: September Stripes
And, I give you, dress #2 from the alterations pile. I actually just picked this little number up in an awesome vintage/thrift store in Ballard the other day. What a great dress for fall! I am planning on taking the hem up a few inches and then either adding a blazer or tights with my black lace-up oxford heels during the brisker months. But, for now, this is the current state and look of the dress, so keep a look out for the new and improved version to come!
