4 Easy Summer Hair Care Tips!

Summer hair care - christine cameron

Last March, I started my transition to becoming a blonde, and ever since I’ve been picking up tips on how to take care of my lighter locks. The last time I was this blonde, I was in college and I definitely didn’t take very good care of my hair, but now that I have the resources as well as great experts at my fingertips, I’ve made a pact with myself to actually do it right this time around. So with that said, I wanted to share a few summer hair care tips that I picked up from Elaine, the Senior Creative Director at the Sassoon Salon in New York!

Link Love - Birthday weekend

I spent the weekend celebrating my Birthday at the The Crow’s Nest in Montauk, and it was such a magical time. Spending time outdoors in Utah was incredible and definitely a much needed escape from the city, but there is something about being by the ocean that resonates with me so deeply. I’m pretty sure it’s because I’m a Cancer, which is a very watery sign!

I hope you all had a great weekend and now for some links I am excited to share with you guys!

Great article on anxiety.

My new favorite ultra hydrating face cream, which is awesome if you have dry skin like me!

The perfect pair of summer sandals.

After reading this article on Facebook, I discovered my new favorite Instagram account.

This $2 eyeliner has been a game changer.

My love of hats continues. Thinking about adding this one to my summer collection.

Three movies that I highly recommend checking out: The Beguiled, The Big Sick and Good Fortune.

I just bought a box of individual coconut oil packets from Trader Joe’s! Genius for traveling.

And now some fun links courtesy of my lovely intern, Keaton.

I’m always looking for new ways to up my sneaker game. These are currently on my list.

Definitely an interesting read.

My favorite free thing to do in NYC.

If you are an animal lover, then you have to start following this Instagram account. It’s my favorite.

This is the third Link Love post I’ve done and I was curious if you guys liked it, and want me to keep it going? I know I always love when other people share their favorite links so let me know your thoughts!

Doing tree pose above Sunset Point in Bryce Canyon

I flew back to New York on a red eye this past Monday morning after being in Utah and Seattle for two weeks, and have definitely been a little jet lagged the past few days. I meant for this post to go up when I got back but had a few things come up, which is why it’s a late, so I’m sorry about that. But, lucky for you guys, that means you get two new posts today!

Anyway, hopefully you guys are feeling more rested than I am (hello three hour time difference), but if are feeling slow this morning, here are some fun links from around the web to ease you into your day. I hope you all had a great weekend and here’s to having a wonderful week!

Monday Reading: Link Love

weekend-reading-pool-float-june-1-2017

For the past week, my family and I have been camping and hiking in and around Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National Park, and it’s so amazing here! To be able to disconnect, be fully present with my family, soak up my surroundings and take a bit of a digital cleanse seems to be exactly what I’ve needed. Unfortunately it tends to be a rarity these days but it’s so important to take time off from the internet, our computer and phones, don’t you think?

In a few days we are going to road trip back to Seattle so I can see my Grandmother, who is 101 (!) and a few other loved ones, but for now, here are some fun links from around the web that I wanted to share with you guys. Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous week! xo

I’ve been reading this book and can’t put it down. Thanks for lending it to me, Grace!

Recent Forever purchases include these nude pom pom ankle strap heels, this nude slip dress and these faux suede blush slides. (I’m sensing a color theme here…)

My collaboration with Cooper & Ella + Dream Downtown was covered in WWD!

Banana Republic finds include this wide brim, brown straw hat, (which also happens to be one of Olivia Palermo’s picks), another pair of suede slides this time in a rich “whiskey” brown and this crisp white off the shoulder shirt.

The Real Problem With Being Child-Free and Unmarried In Your Mid-30s

Next up, my lovely intern, Keaton.

Here are some links she’s been loving from around the web!

I’m really into this jacket because it’s cool and lightweight, and fits my compulsive need to bring a coat everywhere even if its 100 degrees outside!

Since I’m obsessed with denim on denim, these overalls are my best friend.

Now that it’s summer I’m looking forward to finally finishing this book.

Perfect for small spaces and adding some extra seating to a room.

The funniest comedy special I’ve ever seen.

Has my mug search finally come to an end?

Really digging these workout leggings.

Such a cool article.

Have a great week friends and don’t forget to stop by here this week because there will be some fun posts up about my summer uniform, and how to dress up denim shorts!  xo

Matrix Biolage Aqua Gel Conditioner

(This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Matrix. All opinions are 100% mine.)

Whenever I go into a salon to get my hair done, the stylist always comments on the fact that I have fine hair but a ton of it, which can be great because with the right product they can create a ton of volume and I can keep my hair styled without it falling flat in five minutes. But like I said, it all depends what product I use. The problem usually begins with my shampoo and conditioner, since anything too heavy immediately takes the “umph” out of my hair…

Pink x Camel

Pink Marimekko Shirt and Camel Coat 1

Ok, first off, can we talk about how it’s supposed to get up to 90 degrees in New York today?! But seeing that I have a swimsuit shoot this morning at the The Dream Hotel pool, this hot weather couldn’t come at a better time!

Alright now that I have discussed the weather, onto my outfit. I love anything paired with camel, because it’s just the perfect neutral next to black or gray, and now that I have a new found love for pink (I think going blonde helped) I love the two colors together. But after purveying my closet for more rosy and blush tones, I realized I currently only own three pieces of pink clothing and I’m wearing two out of the three items in this outfit! (The third piece is a bright fuchsia midi skirt that I wore here.) I want to add a bit of subtle color into my wardrobe so I think the next thing I want to add into rotation is this light pink trench, which I recently saw at French Connection…thoughts?

Seven Sexy Scents For Spring and Summer

Processed with VSCO with s2 preset

I don’t know about you guys, but I love a heady, musky fragrance all day, every day. I find that I am often drawn to men’s cologne because of their woodsy, heavier scents and usually stay away from anything too sweet or floral. And instead of just wearing this type of perfume in winter, when spicier, pungent fragrances are more “acceptable or appropriate” I love wearing this kind of perfume all year round. This is definitely a personal preference but after chatting about it with different friends and colleagues, I now know I am not alone in this.

As spring turns to summer, and the weather becomes thick and balmy, I find that heavier fragrances match the elements and it becomes my favorite time to spritz a light dusting of a musky scent on my neck, inner elbow, back of knees, and a bit in my hair for good measure. Throughout the day I love how the spicy smell rises with the heat and creates a very heady, aromatic, bold statement that builds throughout the day.

And with that said, here are my top seven sexy scents for spring and summer…

Fragrances listed clockwise:

Oud by Ralph Lauren:

Smoky guaiac wood, spicy incense, and earthy cedar to evoke the spirit of the African savannah.

Santal 33 by Le Labo:

Woody, rich scent opens with violet accord and cardamom.

Edition 02 – Shiso by Goop:

Shiso leaf (also known as perilla) is the unexpected star of this scent, which is slightly spicy/fresh characteristic that’s green, earthy, and delicate all at once. It slowly opens up into spicy greens, crushed stems, and ancient exotic woods.

Windsor by D.R. Harris & Co. Ltd:

Plenty of herbal overtones with some citrus smell. It’s quite complex, changing as the cologne dries and gradually gets a bit of patchouli, vetiver and black pepper to it.

Stash by SJP:

An aromatic woody fragrance that captures light and dark while merging notes of cedarwood atlas, vetiver, and pistachio.

Black Orchid by Tom Ford:

Black truffle, bergamot, black orchid, black plum, noir gourmand accord, patchouli.

Moab by Phlur:

Long pepper, clove, vanilla, jasmine and tonka bean.

What are your favorite sexy scents?

Detox Whipped Dry Shampoo Foam from Drybar!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Drybar. All opinions are 100% mine.

My hair before using Drybar’s Detox Whipped Dry Shampoo Foam. Slightly flat with a hint of oil, some noticeable separation and in desperate need of a pick me up!

I love wearing my hair both straight and curly, so I wanted to show you guys that you can easily use this product on either kind of style without messing it up. Because I have fine hair, but a lot of it, I try not to wash my hair everyday because otherwise it can start to look limp and flat if it’s too “clean.” With that said dry shampoo has become my best friend – I rely on it to give my hair texture and keep it looking fresh. I promise, if you were to take a look into my bathroom cabinet, you would find a million bottles of different dry shampoos because I always love trying out different kinds to see which is my favorite. Case in point, I was very excited to partner with Drybar and try out their new Drybar Detox Whipped Dry Shampoo Foam since I am already a fan of their shops and other products! I love that Detox Whipped adds lift and body to my hair no matter if I’ve styled it curly or straight.

Here we go!

You just need a small amount – a little goes a long way! First shake it well. Then dispense a small amount into your palm and rub your hands together. Use your fingers to apply to the roots and massage gently until the foam disappears completely.

It’s nuts because it feels like you are putting mousse into your hair and are sure it’s going to mess up whatever hair style you have at the moment, but it doesn’t! In fact, it does the opposite and instead, the foam absorbs excess oils, leaving your hair feeling fresh and clean with no stickiness or crunchiness. As much as I have loved my traditional dry shampoo, I will say, I’m a Detox Whipped convert! I’m obsessed with how there is no powdery residue or inhalation of product when spraying it into my hair. Plus the Detox Whipped dry shampoo foam has a lovely fragrance, so your hair will smell great, just like it was freshly washed even if it’s been a few days. It can be your little secret!

Et voila! The finished look having used the product on both curly and straight hair! I can see such a visible difference in the volume and lift with the curls, and the clean and sleek look with the straight hair. What do you guys think? Are you dry shampoo fans? Would you try Detox Whipped dry shampoo foam? After testing it out and then using it almost everyday for about a week and a half, I can say that I highly recommend it! xo
