MSP Staycation: 72 Hours at the Row NYC

IMG_9184Whenever my friends plan a trip to NYC, the first thing many ask me for is a Times Square hotel recommendation. While I usually avoid the tourist spots in the city, I was recently introduced to Row NYC. Located on 8th Avenue at 44th Street, Row NYC  is located just around the corner from tons of wonderful theaters and bustling restaurants, and a 3-night stay at the hotel completely changed the snarky opinion I held about Times Square. Here’s why it’s a great place to stay.

The Room

IMG_9132I loved the hotel’s contemporary style and minimalist rooms—especially my view of the Theater District. My room was on the 26th floor, which was great because it was super quiet. And as much as I enjoyed the view, I enjoyed the blackout shades that did an excellent job of blocking out the light so I could get some rest.

The Perks

IMG_9185If you’re looking for hotel perks, City Kitchen is an on-site food hall that offers an endless range of dining choices. Plus, District M, Row NYC’s chic cocktail lounge, is a great spot to relax with a glass of wine at the end of the day. The hotel also has an indoor spin studio, CYC, and a blow dry bar called Glam&Go, which is perfect if you want a little pampering before a night out on the town.

The Food

IMG_9075I was curious to check out the hotel amenities at Row NYC, such as City Kitchen, their awesome food hall. I tried almost all of the different vendors, but I think my favorite was the ramen from Kuro Obi. On my first morning, I headed to City Kitchen to check out the coffee situation, and got a latte at Dough while being tempted by their glazed doughnuts.

The Times Square Experience IMG_9330My stay at Row NYC coincided with a visit from my parents, so they stayed at the hotel with me. On our last night, we got tickets to the Broadway show Fully Committed starring Jesse Tyler Ferguson at the Lyceum Theater, just a short walk from the hotel. There are so many different Times Square attractions surrounding Row NYC, including B.B. King Blues Club, Madame Tussauds and an abundance of theaters boasting amazing productions every day.

All in all, we had an excellent stay and I can safely say I would most definitely recommend this lovely hotel to anybody visiting from out of town. Thanks again for hosting us Row NYC – we had a blast! xo

This post was in collaboration Row NYC. As always, all opinions and styling are my own. Thank you so much for supporting the brands that support My Style Pill.

Before I dive into talking about the outfits in th Before I dive into talking about the outfits in this Reel, I want to take a moment and talk about perfectionism and how it can potentially foil the best laid plans…if you let it.

Here’s what I’m talking about: As I was looking back at what I had just filmed, instead of seeing two cute outfit remix ideas, (both based around a $4 top I scored at Goodwill), I only saw the shelves behind me with messy piles of pants, unorganized hanging clothing that wasn’t color coordinated, and the damn black hanger on the floor that is peeking into my shot. 🙄

It hasn’t always been like this for me when it came to sharing my content, but over the years, as photos and video on IG and online became glossier and glossier, and more picture perfect, I found myself pulling back and not wanting to share unless everything was neat and perfectly “in place” before stepping in front of the camera.

Today, I almost let the fact that my new closet set up that you see here, (which I had only just put together) wasn’t quite set up the way I imagined in my head, keep me from sharing outfits with you all, which is why you follow me in the first place! Jeez.

Anyway, I know that this type of issue isn’t incredibly serious, but I know that I love it when other people
open up and share about little things that they are dealing with, because it helps me feel like I’m
not alone with what I might be going through. So if I helped you release any perfectionism that you might be holding onto, then that is good enough for me. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

OK, now that I got that off my chest, let’s get into the really important stuff: the outfits!

Earlier today I wandered into Goodwill hoping to find some gems, and ended up leaving with this knit tank. I’m really pleased with it and love the color. It’s a dusty mauve and I immediately imagined paring it with my new bright purply-pink sleep set that I shared on here, yesterday. Then of course I had to turn the outfit into a remix and decided to try it on with my new white gauzy pants and some stacked sandals. All in all, I really am quite pleased with both looks!

Which would you wear? 1 or 2?

xo,
Christine

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m very int I never thought I’d say this, but I’m very into chinos right now. So much so that I just ordered almost every color that @oldnavy has because they are that comfortable, and in my opinion, super cute!

They are high waisted, relaxed in fit and I will be wearing them until it becomes shorts weather, which is basically not until July. Because if you familiar with Seattle, you know we are about to enter into #juneuary in a week and a half. 😩

I love this outfit combo because it’s easy and e I love this outfit combo because it’s easy and effortless to put together and wear on days when I’m running errands, especially when the weather is gray and rainy.

Quick back story on the pieces: I recently got these pants and am officially obsessed. They are the perfect length for sneakers (I’m 5’4), lightweight for spring weather and very comfortable. I’ll link them in my stories if you want the details!

This trench has become an all time favorite and was something I picked up for my collaboration with @bellevuecollection. It’s from @oakandfort and the drape, the cut, everything about it is perfect to me.

The bag is also from @oakandfort, my shoes are @converse and my sweater is old from @target. Oh and earrings are @oldnavy and sunnies are @lespecs!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I haven’t worn this denim vest in a minute, but it sure came in handy when styling this dress, which makes me really happy I didn’t get rid of it during one of my seasonal purging sessions. 😬

This dress comes in a few other colors and is incredible comfortable and lightweight. I think it would also work really well as a coverup if you wanted to go from the beach to brunch!✌🏻

Day 29: Style an entire look around your favorite Day 29: Style an entire look around your favorite pair of shoes 🤠

Ok before I talk about this look, can you believe we only have ONE more day of the 30 Day Fashion Challenge?! For those of you that have been participating, thank you for sending me your outfits and letting me know when you have been implementing some of the prompts even if you haven’t done all 28 days - the point was always to help you look at your wardrobe with fresh eyes and to get creative with your clothing.

So these boots have a special place in my heart. I bought them on a family trip to Santa Fe at a vintage cowboy boot store and immediately fell in love with them. I haven’t really worn them recently but when the prompt said to style an outfit around a favorite pair of shoes, these popped into my mind. It’s also fitting that I chose cowboy boots because I’m spending the weekend in San Antonio! If you have any recommendations, leave them in the comments!

Hello friends! I am so excited to share my collabo Hello friends! I am so excited to share my collaboration with @bellevuecollection , where I styled and remixed some of my favorite transitional pieces that I found for spring, all available in stores now!

For those of you that have been following me for some time now, know that I love classic pieces and a trench coat definitely falls into that category. Earlier in my first reel, I shared a timeless khaki trench and created four different looks based around it, swapping out only a few different pieces, all of which I found while shopping the variety of stores The Bellevue Collection has to offer.

And now, I’m taking a slightly different approach to a classic style of jacket - the trench coat - and styling a leather version from @aritzia! I am so in love with this buttery soft jacket and am very into the retro, elevated vibes it’s giving me. I created four looks using this one trench and rotated between a few of the same pieces I purchased at The Bellevue Collection for some good ol’ remixing fun.

Which look is your favorite?!
