Questions Answered…

Photo from A Cup of Jo by Megan McIsaac

I get such sweet comments from you guys as well as great questions regarding whatever I might be wearing, or chatting about in my posts. Here are a few that I have come across:

Q: “I Just saw (500) Days of Summer and would like to get Sugar Town (its not on the soundtrack) any idea where I can find it?”

(I recently wrote about Zooey Deschanel and how much I love her and her voice, especially the song Sugar Town that she sings in her latest movie.)

A: I actually found it available for purchase—without having to buy the entire album—as a bonus track through iTunes. Although, I love all the tracks, the whole CD is great!

Q: “I am in love with your jacket. Do you mind sharing where you got it from or what brand it is?” (Regarding the blazer shown here.)

A: I actually can’t remember when I got this jacket, but it is from Banana Republic and I have had it forever. I didn’t wear it in a casual way/style for a long time, and then one day, I feel like I pulled it out of my closet and sort of rediscovered and saw it it with fresh eyes. It is now a key staple in my wardrobe!

Q: “When you tucked your dress in, how did you avoid the bunching under your pants or shorts of the extra fabric? I always have problems with bunching when I try to tuck dresses into my bottoms.” (Regarding the striped dress shown here.)

A: A few people have asked me this, as well as where I bought my striped dress. It is originally from H&M but I bought it at Buffalo Exchange. The trick, if you are going to tuck a dress in as a top, is to use one that is already form fitting and on the tighter side so that it hugs your body. That way, when you slip on shorts or a skirt over the dress, it doesn’t bunch up underneath.

I hope this was helpful, and please,  feel free to email me with questions or comments!

Happy Tuesday!

Reader Mail: Meet Linda

Outift suggestions for Linda

Meet Linda. She is a reader and recently wrote in asking me about style advice regarding this little black dress:

“Hello! My name is Linda and I was wondering if you could help me with a bit of a problem. I have this jumper I recently bought and now, I don’t know what to do with it. Any ideas? I’ve attached a photo of me in the dress. Please reply; I need your help! Thank you, Christine!”

Happy to help, Linda! To start, I poked around the web and came up with two options on how to style this dress. My main goal was to come up with things that one might find hanging in their very own closet. And, my second goal was, I wanted to be able to remix the dress itself, a couple different ways—one dressier, one more casual. The items that I picked are pretty basic pieces and can be found at most stores like Forever 21, H&M, Target etc. For shoe options, check Payless or Steve Madden.

After picking the above items, I became so inspired by this project that I found a similar black jumper in my closet and tried to use alike pieces from my own wardrobe to copy the two options above!

So, dear readers, how would you style this little black dress?

Dear American Apparel, you’re making me blush!

American Apparel Daily Update

How neat is this! My recent post about American Apparel outfits and clothing, got picked up by American Apparel themselves! I feel so honored. A big thanks to everyone, especially Victoria, who was the lovely reader that asked me to pull together some AA outfits in the first place. Thanks again!

P.S. Isn’t this girl just a breath of fresh air? She looks so bright and friendly. Plus, I love her leather skirt, and of course her grey t-shirt.

I love reader mail!

We all know that I love me some grey t-shirts and tanks. So, when I read this lovely email, all about grey, I was positively delighted!! What a talented and creative person she is! Thanks so much hp! Check out her layout below.

dear stylepill,
new york has been cold and grey if not black by the time i leave work these days.  not feeling my happiest i decided to turn all this grey-ness into some late night inspiration.  yes, i’m talking about online shopping and great deals too –  my guilty pleasure.  i love american apparel and was pleased to receive the online shopping code (FF08-CM200) for 15% off yesterday afternoon, so i made use of it! for some reason the 15% off made every (grey) purchase justified.  then i was paruzing around oldnavy.com and scored two skirts (chocolate & black) for $4.99 each! i can’t wait for my packages to arrive!
