Today is my Birthday, and even though I am one year older, I am pretty excited about it. I have so many fun things planned starting with a big dinner tonight, how could I not be stoked to start my Birthday week? (Yep, I get a whole week.)
Birthdays are a funny thing – some people love them (me) and others not so much. But regardless whether you are a fan, in my mind a Birthday still acts as a marker and a reminder to show us how far we’ve come from the previous year. In just a few months, this blog will turn five. FIVE. That is incredible to me, especially because when I started it, I had absolutely no idea what would happen. No real plan. To look back to 2008 when I started all of this is fun, because I remember what I was doing, where I was working, who I was spending time with and even what I was wearing.
I am now in such a different place and feel so very lucky to be here. I definitely didn’t think or even know it would introduce me into such an amazing, supportive and creative community and for that I feel so very lucky. But, with that said, I think it is always important to look back to where you started from to appreciate the beginning stages, the growth that took place, and most importantly, those who believed in you from the get go. My parents, family and friends have been unbelievably supportive and without them, I don’t know where I would be. All of you have have also made so much of this possible, and I can’t thank you guys enough for sticking with me and continuing to come back to this blog everyday. It means the world to me, so thank you.
With that said, I celebrate yet another year of turner older and hopefully wiser. I look forward to diving head first into whatever the next 12 months have in store for me even though I really have no clue. But I have a good feeling it’s going to be a fun ride. xo

Lately I’ve been all about a simple black pump. There is something so classic and chic about a slight point and a nice heel. Check out Nine West for some great options – whether you are looking for a kitten, mid or high heel, this selection seems to have it all!
P.S. Happy Birthday to the best Father in the entire world. I love you and will see you soon! xo

DSC_0123The weather on Sunday morning in Philly was crisp and sunny with just a bit of chilliness in the air, just the way I like it. It was like Saturday’s storm never happened! So remember yesterday when I said I wore this sweater all weekend long (minus Saturday night when I turned into a cat)? Well, I wasn’t kidding. The temperature outside was perfect for a cozy knit, so this time around, I paired it with ankle boots and a warm wool cape-like coat from Nine West’s new winter collection. They are launching a sweepstakes through their Facebook page right now, and are giving away this chic coat to one lucky winner. All you have to do is enter your email address in the sweepstakes entry field. Good luck! xo

P.S. Check out how the lovely Kim, Laura, Beth and Keiko styled their jackets for fall!

P.P.S. Sending out a thank you to “A” for taking these photos for me. :) xo

These Shoes Were Made For Walking…

This was the day that we decided to walk all the way from the French Quarter to the Garden District. (For those of you live in, or know Nola well, you will understand how far this walk was.) Our goal? To see The Lafayette Cemetery. About two hours later, we arrived at said destination. The amazing thing? All three of us walked almost the whole time in these shoes. (Lindsey and I are both wearing Nine West and Keiko is rocking a sky-high Jessica Simpson platform.) Actually, now that I remember, Lindsey didn’t bring flats, so she actually walked the entire time in her platforms without her feet falling off. I think that’s saying a lot about a shoe.

It was a wonderful day. We saw a bunch of different neighborhoods that ordinarily we would not have seen if it wasn’t for our meandering “jaunt” to the other side of the city. We actually had a great time and took tons of photos. Later that evening, we got gussied up to attend Sophomore’s fashion show, then went for drinks at the Ritz, and finally onto an amazing dinner at Lilette. The cherry on my sundae? “A” flew in for the weekend, and was waiting for me when I got back to the hotel. :) All in all, it was a fantastic evening.

This is Juley, an awesome Nola blogger, who writes the cool site, Swank Heights. I snapped this photo of her at the Sophomore show because I was so taken with her yellow dress and owl pin! Isn’t she so chic?

Had enough of Nola talk yet? No? Good, because there’s more to come tomorrow! :) xoxo

I teamed up with Nine West to be a part of their “Must Lust” Espadrille Style Out feature and am loving the leather pair I picked. They are extremely comfortable and seem to go with everything. I really think the weather needs to warm up immediately because these will be perfect with swingy spring dresses and long romantic maxis.

A took these photos last weekend before we headed out to lunch. It was sunny and only a tad chilly. I’m glad we snapped these when we did, because the next day the weather went back to wind and rain. Lucky for me, I am headed out to sunny New Orleans today (!!!) where it is 80 degrees, for their fashion week and will be speaking on a blogger panel along with Keiko and Linsdey about national blogs and local fashion. Woo! But, more on that tomorrow…

In the meantime, check out some more fun photos on Nine West’s facebook page and follow them on twitter! Oh and if you want you should follow me on twitter too! Happy almost Friday! xoxo

my outfit: still stoked about stripes

IMG_9003

It’s nothing new that I love me some stripes, so when I first saw this Breton striped boatneck sweater on one of the mannequins at the Gap, I was immediately in love. I ducked into the store but for the life of me could not find it anywhere! After searching a few more locations, I ended up snagging it at the store on 42nd street, and got it for 40 percent off with a coupon! Score. Upon bringing it home, I immediately starting brainstorming how I was going to wear it. That’s when I saw my striped dress draped on the couch. Bingo! Stripes on stripes! What’s better than that?!

my outfit: zac posen for target!

Happy, happy Friday my dearest readers! I couldn’t be more pleased that the weekend is just around the corner. I have lots of fun plans and can’t wait for everything to begin. On another note, it’s been a while since I’ve done an outfit shot up against my beloved brick wall, so I thought, what better time to get back into the swing of things than with a photo of my new Zac Posen (for Target) skirt! I went to his event last night with my friend Faye (her awesome business is, SocialSklz :-)) and we had a blast. There were lots of super cute things, including a very enticing red bathing suit, but I was good and only walked away with this floral skirt. You can’t see this detailing in the photo, but it’s made out of this brocade-like fabric that has shiny gold stitching all throughout, which makes it very festive and fun. I think that I’ll be able to wear this all year round, whether I go with bare legs and sandals or tights and boots. Yay! Lastly, I must comment on the blouse, which is one of my very favorite pieces because of the little white bird print. I’m definitely into the avian theme and apparently so is Kelly from The Glamourai!

P.S. If you live in New York, head to the Zac Posen shopping party now!

P.P.S. Will be posting photos from last night’s party soon so stay tuned!

My Outfit:
Blouse: Thrifted, 20Twenty in Ballard, WA
Skirt: Zac Posen for Target
Shoes: Nine West
