Last week I headed upstate with Keiko to accompany her on a fun roadtrip sponsored by Ford. We packed a lot into two days and have great pictures from all the gorgeous places we stopped. The fall foliage was striking and I can’t wait to share them with you. This batch was taken outside the Lyndhurst Castle (it was fully decorated for Halloween, which was super creepy and awesome) in Tarrytown, New York. Last week, I attended the 40th Anniversary party for the Timberland Original Yellow Boot out in Williamsburg. The night started out with an intimate panel, which I spoke on along with Matthew Henson, Noah Kalina, and Michael Williams with Chris Pawlus, senior global creative director of Timberland as our moderator. We spoke about everything from photography to fashion to tradition and craft to instagram and back again. Afterward, we headed downstairs to the party, where we listened to live music, goofed off in the photo booth and snacked on yummy appetizers. It was a blast and I felt really honored to be a part of it.

Lately I’ve been very into pairing navy and black together, as is in the case of this outfit. (I promise the suede paneling you see is dark navy.) What’s funny about this is, growing up I was told that black and blue, as well as black and brown, were never supposed to be worn together. And look at the crazy color combos out there now! But that’s what is fun about fashion – it keeps reinventing itself, all the while keeping us on our toes. xo
P.S. My current lust list includes: this navy Givenchy bag and this black Helmut Lang blazer. Wishing they were in my closet right now!

I have to say, this skirt is the most lovely thing to wear. Not only is the fabric stretchy and has great movement, but I felt a lot like a princess when I wore this little get-up yesterday and strolled around the neighborhood with Keiko. The only issue is, I am only 5’4″ and this skirt is pretty high-waisted, which is not a problem if you are tall and lanky, but when you are a shorter girl with some curves like me, you might have to work with it a bit to make it look just right. What I would suggest when dealing with high-waisted, midi skirts when you are of the more petite stature: Showcase your waist, wherever is flattering on your shape, don a high heel, which will give you length, and lastly, opt for a fairly fitted top, whether it’s a tee you tuck in, or a classic button down that you tie in the front. Then pair with a bright lip and bag, et voila, you’re all set! xo

Fashion Week has officially ended for me and now I am looking forward to a fairly quiet weekend ahead to catch up on sleep, do laundry and watch all my favorite TV shows. I know it’s not quite Friday, but do you guys have anything fun planned over the next few days?
