My Outfit: Bright ‘n Shiny

DSC_0062RayBan Wayfarers / H&M Blouse / J.Crew Belt / H&M Jeans / Franco Sarto Wedges (Thrifted from Beacon’s Closet) / F21 Bag

I was in a slight rush on Friday morning so I went with one of my favorite go-to blouses to create an easy, chic look. I’ve worn this top many different ways, and I love its bright, geometric pattern. It goes with a variety of pieces in my wardrobe and I love the soft, silky material.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I spent time with my best friend, went to a hilarious and fun bachelorette party, ate yummy food, wandered through TriBeCa and saw two new movies, it was relaxing and just what I needed. What did you guys do? xoxo

Fashion Week Recap

I thought it would be fun to catch you all up on some of the fun things I did during Fashion Week, so I decided to create a mini photo montage of my favorite snaps from throughout the week.

I was lucky enough to cover the Chictopia 10 Social Influence Summit and I got to hang out with many more lovely bloggers—old and new friends—and check out the cute items from Kmart’s new clothing line, Style Sip. I scored a cute black chunky knit scarf and a pair of lace-printed leggings.

I met Claire from Faboo last September at the Weardrobe Conference, and a year later she moved to the city to start school. I hope to see more of her soon…she’s pretty awesome.

My dear friend Audrey made the macaroons! She is super talented and I like to invite myself over to her apartment for her homemade meals. They are delish!

Interview with Lori Goldstein on styling for Vera Wang:

My Style Pill: How did you and Vera meet?

Lori Goldstein: I met Vera about seven years ago through the legendary Polly Mellen, who I worked with at Allure, and Vera was working at Vogue. She said that Vera was looking for a stylist and said that the two of us would be perfect together. We met and it was like we were separated at birth. And, the rest is history.”

MSP: Do you find that you have similar aesthetics?

LG: We have totally similar aesthetics. The more we work together, the less we even have to speak. We really love the same clothes.

MSP: What was your first reaction when you saw Vera’s looks for this season?

LG: Love. I love that there was a little more mens tailoring. I love all the short dresses, I love all the embellishments, and I always love where we’re going. For me, it’s my job to put it all together. I love when I see all these great clothes I get to play with and make great outfits out of them.

MSP: What has Vera said about the inspiration behind this collection?

LG: A little film noir. She likes the darker colors and the mystery of the old films, and it was really just a starting point for all of the great pieces that are here now.

MSP: Is it hard to remain composed and focused in a crazy atmosphere such as this? How do you stay focused?

LG: I am very used to it now, but it was very overwhelming in the beginning. But, I think the more we do anything, the more confidence we get, the clearer we get. You can definitely get jittery but I know how to meditate. I can get back to my center and get grounded, and know that it will always come through. I can definitely freak out, but you just stay in your zone for the most part and that just comes with time. You have to stay focused and eventually it becomes second nature.

MSP: I hear you have your own line for QVC called LOGO Instant Chic. How do you take what you know from such high fashion and bring it to QVC?

LG: For me, the transition has been very seamless. I don’t really think there is a big drop for anybody—it’s a price point—but it’s also a way of thinking. It’s never been about a price point for me it, it’s been about how you express yourself. Clothing and fashion and how we live our lives is how we express ourselves. So, no, the transition has not been weird, its normal. I know people that don’t have the privilege to afford super expensive items, but that have this incredible style that blows my mind, and I know people that have more money than God…and, well, God bless them.

** Check out Lori’s new collection on QVC, and become a fan of her new line, on Facebook!
