My Outfit: In Black and White

CSC_0048
Urban Outfitters Earrings / Banana Republic Blazer / Gifted Natori Top / Gap Boyfriend Jeans / Steve Madden Warrick Wedges
I hope you all had a lovely Fourth of July! My plans changed at the last minute and I ended up staying in town, but still had a great time. It was low key with no traffic, drama or stress, and consisted of eating and lounging on the couch with my best friend and her husband. We ate tasty polish sausages, corn on the cob and munched on homemade oatmeal cookies. When it came time to watch the fireworks, we grabbed blankets and foldable chairs and headed across the street to Greenlake where we had a prime view of the fireworks show going on downtown. It was an excellent time.

As far as this outfit goes, it was something that I just slipped on over the weekend to go grab happy hour drinks down in Ballard with a good friend. I’ve realized that I need to get these wedges in black, because as much as I love the cognac color, I think having them in two colors would be a good wardrobe investment.

Do you guys have a favorite pair of shoes that you wish you had in more than one color? xoxo

P.S. Don’t forget to use the special code MSP15 on your next online purchase at Steve Madden!

my outfit: still stoked about stripes

IMG_9003

It’s nothing new that I love me some stripes, so when I first saw this Breton striped boatneck sweater on one of the mannequins at the Gap, I was immediately in love. I ducked into the store but for the life of me could not find it anywhere! After searching a few more locations, I ended up snagging it at the store on 42nd street, and got it for 40 percent off with a coupon! Score. Upon bringing it home, I immediately starting brainstorming how I was going to wear it. That’s when I saw my striped dress draped on the couch. Bingo! Stripes on stripes! What’s better than that?!

I am going out to dinner with one of my best friends for dinner tonight and think that I will wear this outfit since the weather has been cooperating lately. Happy Friday! Have a lovely weekend. xoxo

remix challenge: railroad boyfriend jeans

Happy Thursday! So, the remix challenge: I wanted to keep it fairly simple, and to make sure each outfit was realistic and attainable. For instance, I stuck with the same sunglasses, belt (for 2 out of 3 of the outfits), shoes and of course,  jeans, only switching up the tops to change the feel of each outfit. Bottom line: I wanted to show how you can really work with what  you already have in your closet but still create diverse and interesting ensembles.

Now tell me…which one is your favorite? xoxo

sneak peak: remix challenge!

Lately, I have been loving what the Gap has to offer. Plus, they usually have great sales. Case in point: I recently picked up these cute Pleated Railroad Jeans for about $24. I loved them so much I decided to conduct a mini remix challenge for myself. After-all, it’s been some time since I did a serious remix, so I played around in my closet for a bit and came up with three looks. I will be posting them later today, so stay tuned!

Outfit Remix: One Shirt, Three Ways…Black and White Gingham

One gingham shirt, three different ways.

(The best part? It’s a mens shirt that was on sale for $10 at the Gap!)

blk-white check-three ways

Version #1: Meetings and such.

First look of the day, wearing my new gingham shirt that I got over the weekend. Wore this outfit to a meeting this morning. (I promise to divulge all the details super soon, I promise!) It was comfy and I felt put together, without looking too fussy or overly-primped.

Version #2: Knockin’ about the house

Second look of the day. I actually didn’t wear this outfit out of the house (besides to photograph it) or in public, but I just love my Target jeans and the cross-and tuck-look with this shirt so much, I knew I had to take a photo of it. Plan on wearing this combination soon, though.

***The trick to the cross-and-tuck shirt technique is to wear a thin tank underneath, that way you don’t have to worry about pinning or taping the shirt! I am wearing my gray racerback tank from American Apparel.***

Version #3: Celebration dinner!

As you all know my Godmother is in town and we went out to celebrate her Birthday tonight. I took her to Diablo Royale where we had yummy margs (mine was spicy mango!), salty chips and tasty fish tacos. YUM. I haven’t worn my sky blue jeans from Cheap Monday all that much this winter, so I thought it was time to bring ’em out of hiding. (For those who are wondering, the white dots are snow!)

Now, tell me, which ensemble is your favorite?

(I think mine is the middle one!)

Outfit 1:

Hat: Boutique in BK (can’t remember the name!)
Glasses: St. Mark’s street vendor
Scarf: H&M
Necklace: Fred Flare
Earrings: Urban Outfitters
Tank: American Apparel
Shirt: Gap
Blazer: Ann Taylor Loft
Leggings: My Mom :)
Boots: Boutique in Soho (can’t remember the name!)
Bag: H&M

Outfit 2:

Glasses: St. Mark’s street vendor
Necklace: Fred Flare
Earrings: Urban Outfitters
Tank: American Apparel
Shirt: Gap
Jeans: Mossimo for Target
Shoes: F21

Outfit 3:

Blazer: Banana Republic

Hello Autumn! Meet the short-sleeved jacket…

Here in New York, the weather is currently trying its damndest to transition into fall, seeing that it’s almost mid-September. But, at times it gets confused and reverts back to its humid ways, making us all de-layer and continue to don summery dresses and open-toed sandals for yet another week. Don’t get me wrong, I love summer and warm days, but I also love fall, and layering. Which, brings me to the topic at hand. On my way out of yoga the other evening, I snapped a picture of this jacket shown here in a Gap ad, which is very similar to one that I recently purchased on sale from Banana Republic.

I checked online to see if it was still available, but had no luck. However, I did find the short-sleeved peacoat online from the Gap (shown above), and think it’s the perfect item to wear during the changing of seasons. It incorporates my favorite thing to do with clothing, which I mentioned above but will say again, and that is layering! The great thing about this style of jacket is, it leaves you just unbundled enough allowing you to escape that bogged-down-feeling of a winter coat, and gives you a lightly layered, autumn-y feel instead. I love the way the shirt extends out from the jacket’s short sleeves adding an interesting dynamic to this amended peacoat. So, throw this baby on over a long-sleeve button down or tee, and effortlessly transition into the fall season. The combination of the two will provide you with just the right amount of warmth needed for that perfect, crisp fall day. And, with that said, I wish you all a happy Friday and a merry weekend!

Cheers!
