I finally had a chance to wear these amazing booties that a very sweet and lovely client bought for me this past Christmas. Aren’t they fun? I love them! I also love the idea of pairing leopard print with cobalt blue – such a pretty combination – so when I came across these bright beauties at Target for only $23, I was quite the happy camper. Target, once again, you win.

Making Friends, Taking Pictures

The other night I partook in a very cool photo shoot along side Keiko, Lindsey, Tess, and Helena, who I finally got to meet! She is the beautiful girl behind the lovely blog, Brooklyn Blonde, and let me tell you, she is just as lovely in person. (She was the one that actually inspired me to buy the skirt I’m wearing, which I got it on sale at ASOS for $18, after I first saw her wear it here.) I just have to say, I feel so lucky to have met so many wonderful and inspiring women in this industry and be a part of so many amazing opportunities. I’m a lucky girl. xoxo

Often times, I think it’s life’s simple pleasures that bring me the most joy. In this particular case, it was enjoying the wide open space of California, a subtle, yet golden sunset, and spending quality time with my family.

I also think this applies to my favorite clothing and accessories. Sometimes simple and classic is so much more. In this case, it would definitely stand true. This classic white blouse, a special necklace from a dear friend, and my beloved pearl ring that was my Grandmother’s, who I miss everyday. xoxo

Fashion’s Night Out Recap:

Met up with Vanessa, Keiko and Kim at the Coach store uptown, where I finally got to meet the lovely Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere…then we headed over to the Juicy store where we were interviewed by the glamorous Kelly… then we finally headed back down downtown, where we navigated the streets of the West Village and Meatpacking, which were chock full of blogger friends, fashionistas and fun parties.

I remixed my Equipment Tank Blouse, by tying it up and wearing it with my skirt I grabbed on sale at Urban Outfitters, paired with my favorite nerd chic specs. I eventually headed home, grabbed a couple slices of pizza, and fell into  mbed. I must say, FNO was quite the success! xoxo

lizBest friend, Liz, and my photographer for the evening striking my blogger pose. :)

Before I start in about my outfit, let me just say…Happy Fashion Week! For those of you involved, I hope it’s going smoothly. So far, things are going great for me, not too hectic, with fun shows and events ahead, and lots of fun faces to see! I wore this outfit out for my drinks with my best friend, Liz—we celebrated five years of friendship!—and then out to another industry party afterward.

I picked up this very “loud” blazer at H&M, and this amazing Equipment tank blouse at Intermix, which I have been remixing all week, (photos to come) and resurrected these skinnies that I bought a few years ago on F21. As for my accessories, I can’t seem to get enough of my black suede sky high heels from Steve Madden, and my ombre fringe-y necklace.

My thought process behind this ensemble was simply this: I love pink and gray together, so I created my look around my new favorite top (which I bought on sale in the two colors left) and gray jeans, but threw on the blazer to add some visual interest.

Have a fantastic week and I will see you all tomorrow! xoxo

My Outfit: The Evolution of a Look.

DSC_0054

DSC_0059

Usually when I am putting an outfit together, I tweak it until it’s just right, but don’t usually end up photographing the in-between stages. Except the other day, I did for some reason and realized it could turn out to be a fun post to show how my look evolves before the final product emerges.

In this case, the two photos above show the original version of this outfit. I chose a very simple look, with wide-legged, light colored denim and minimal accessories. However, after looking at the images on camera, something was off, and I decided it needed a little “umph.”

So, I chose to don my frames, and add an eclectic colorful clutch.

Still not quite satisfied, because I still felt like something was off, I decided to change my denim choice. So instead, I opted for a pair of skinnies in a dark wash, and added my snakeskin printed scarf for some more flair and a little pattern play.

Et, voila! Sometimes it just takes a bit of tweaking, playing and trying different options before you get the look just right, but it’s worth it in the end.

( All the outfit pieces: East Village Frames / Urban Outfitters Scarf / Gap Jeans (light wash) / L’eau Skinnies (dark wash)/ H&M Necklace / Equipment Blouse (thrifted from Value Village) / H&M Blazer / Steve Madden “Caryssa” Pumps / Zara Terez “Nolita” Clutch )
