Spotted, Once Again

Spent Saturday in Williamsburg where I poked around in Beacon’s Closet and Crossroads Trading Co. and drank some stellar coffee from Blue Bottle. Eventually we made our way back into the city and had a tasty dinner with friends at Il Bagatto.

I have to say I really loved this past weekend. I was able to spend quality time with the people I love and enjoyed lots of good food and yummy desserts. I wish all weekends could be this relaxing.

P.S. I am loving this spotted blouse that I picked up from F21. Click here to see how I first wore it! Which look do you like the best?

Weekend Wear: It Is What It Is

DSC_0253
RayBan Wayfarers / Style Sip (Kmart) Neck Warmer / Topshop Trench (thrifted from Beacon’s Closet) / Fred Flare Necklace / Charley 5.0 Denim Shirt / H&M Striped Tank / Patagonia Leggings / Steve Madden Boots

I forgot that we took these photos about two weekends ago during a strolling Saturday.  It was actually the same weekend that these were taken.

This outfit was a product of wanting to be comfortable yet still look put together. I guess that’s usually the goal, but I knew I couldn’t go wrong with leggings and riding boots, which is a no-brainer in the comfort department.

I feel like this look is preppy-meets-urban, due to the combination of stripes, denim, trench and of course, my beloved RayBans. I’m a lso a huge fan of my nubby neck scarf that I was gifted from the Style Sip (Kmart’s new brand) Lounge that was set up at the Chictopia Conference. So soft and not itchy whatsoever.

Like the title says, it is what it is and what you see is what you get. Simple, straightforward and classic.

Outfit Remix/Style Challenge: Camel Cape, Version 1

DSC_0225
RayBan Wayfarers / Urban Outfitters Blouse / Zara Cape / Seven Jeans / Franco Sarto Wedges
(thrifted from Beacon’s Closet)

So, clearly I broke down and bought the ever-so-beautiful cape that I posted about last week. Then, after chatting with my friend Krystal, she told me she bought it too, so we decided to team up this week and do a style challenge! We will be posting outfits again onWednesday and Friday of this week, so make sure to check back soon to see how we each style up our super stylish capes!

For this first post, I decided to start off simple and just style it in a very classic way. Over the course of the week I plan on getting much more creative and really style it up, but in the meantime, I give you my first cape outfit: classic, simple, chic. Now head on over to Krystal’s blog to see her first version of the week! xoxo

I’ll be honest, for most of the morning, I sat on my couch in my gray American Apparel V-neck and favorite oversized boxers, working on my computer, drinking coffee and eating toast. When it finally came time to enter the world of the living and leave the apartment to run errands, I struggled with what to wear. It’s still pretty muggy and wet out, so it’s been hard to fully embrace fall when the thought of putting on tights or boots makes me start to sweat. This ensemble was on the warmer side, but I love wearing a trench and there was a slight breeze, so I talked myself into layering. I finally left the apartment and walked to Washington Square Park where I met up with my good friend Kitt. (She was kind of enough to take these photos. Thanks again, Kitty!)

Now onto the remix part of the post: This skirt is actually a dress! I’ve worn here and here, and it’s one of my favorite finds from Beacon’s Closet. At first I pulled the sweater over the dress and just left it plain and untucked, but after staring in the mirror for a minute, I still felt something was missing. So instead, I pulled the top of the dress down, tucked it underneath, then tucked the sweater in over it, and belted the whole thing. Et voila, a new outfit was born!

P.S. I love these wedges so much that I’m now eyeing the following styles to add to my collection: Wondrful, Tyrella and Dynastee. Do you guys have a favorite wedge? xoxo

My Outfit: My Last Year as a Twenty-something.

IMG_0414

It’s official. I am 29 today, making it my last year as a “twenty-something.” At first I was a little ovewhelmed with this daunting number, but then, a very wise person recently told me that I shouldn’t fear getting older. That instead, I should embrace it and feel lucky that I am another year wiser. I decided that I fully agree.

I’ve been looking forward to this weekend for so long, and it’s finally here! Please bear with me as I effervesce for a moment…

A few of the reasons I am so happy:

*It’s my Birthday (!!!) and I get to celebrate with some of the people I love the very most, including my parents, which hasn’t happened since 2004, due to the fact that I moved to New York.

*My best friend from grade school is getting married tomorrow!

*A very special person in my life took the time to fly out to Seattle to be with me for both of these happy occasions.

Needless to say, I am one lucky girl.

Alright my dears, I am off for a whirlwind of a weekend. See you all on Monday! xoxo

My Outfit: Sunday Night Supper

DSC_2076

Good Morning, my lovelies! How was everyone’s weekend? I had a great past few days, which were filled with going to dinner, hanging with friends and sipping tasty wine. I did not, however, do a very good job of documenting my outfits from Friday or Saturday due to the very rainy weather we experienced, but did get a few shots last night. I went out to dinner at one of my favorite Italian restaurants in my neighborhood and filled up on two types of ravioli, red wine and cannoli. Yum. Afterwards, walking home, I finally got some shots of my outfit to share with you all. I bought this billowy top the first year I moved here and haved loved it ever since. It is more comfortable than anything, but I find the print interesting and different from anything else I have in my closet. I also felt very cozy and fall-like, even though it was so warm out that I didn’t need a coat. Such strange weather! What did you guys do this weekend? xoxo

My Outfit: Flower Girl

flower girl

Okay, I am up to six different outfits that include this dress as the main piece. I dug this little maroon caplet/cropped blazer from the depths of my closet and went the retro route again. I pinned an over-sized silk flower to my jacket, which made me feel very 1940s. Loved it!

These four photos show the evolution of the outfit, and how I tweaked it bit by bit. First adding gloves and then the final touch, a simple black belt. So, tell me, what’s your favorite version? Hope you all had a lovely weekend, and Happy Columbus day!

P.S. Stay tuned later today to see all six outfits!

My Outfit:

My Outfit: Michael, meet John

MJ jacket

MJ jacket

Okay, so I have seen this jacket on a few people, Katy and Jessica to be specific, and always thought it looked great on them. So when I received it, courtesy of ModCloth, I was both excited but sort of nervous that I might not be able to pull it off.  I must say that this ensemble was a bit of a stretch for me, even though I put it together, but I just felt very Michael Jackson meets John Lennon in a costumey kind of way. But I went with it and tried to totally own it as I ran around the city all day. I felt like such a brave little blogger in my new hat, (which by the way, I am slightly obsessed with) as I posed for photos on a random street in Soho, with yet again, passerbyers and random shop owners coming up to me asking me what exactly it was I was doing. I am also digging my denim too, which I am proud to say, are my good friend Devyn’s very own design from his jean line, L’eau. Check them out people, they rock!

So, now let’s chat. I would say that overall this outfit turned out well,  but what do you guys think? Just a friendly reminder…remember to be kind! :)

My Outfit:
Hat: H&M
Sunglasses: Fred Flare
Necklace: Fred Flare
Jacket: Battalion Jacket in Ivory, courtesy of ModCloth
Shirt: Thrifted from Beacon’s Closet
Jeans: Gift from L’eau
Booties: GoJane.com
Bag: H&M
