How To Spend an Afternoon at Pike Place Market during Christmastime

I love downtown Seattle at Christmastime. It’s so festive, everyone is bustling about and all the decorations make me smile. Nate and I recently ventured down to Pike Place Market a couple of Sunday’s ago for a project I did for eBay and then ended up just wandering around taking in the sights.

How To Spend an Afternoon at Pike Place Market during Christmastime:

1. Start by walking through the main cobblestone street of the market and check out all the Christmas decorations. There are an abundance of wreaths, lights and trees surrounding the outside of the actual market, which is just so festive and pretty. If you are hoping to grab a coffee from the original Starbucks that is located on the same strip, you’re in for a quite the wait. It gets pretty hairy in there due to the influx of tourists, so I would bypass that and head to Storyville Coffee instead, which is located inside the market. They are on the top floor of the Corner Market building at First & Pike in Pike Place Market. Stand on the red cobblestone and look toward the iconic red neon “Public Market Center” clock-sign, and their building will be on your right. To get to the top floor, take the stairs or the elevator. Watch this video to learn more!

2. Afterwards, take a long leisurely stroll through the actual market and check out all the local vendors. There are so many little businesses tucked away on the different floors, so make sure to take your time and really soak it in.  (Make sure to walk past the restaurant that was featured in Sleepless in Seattle!) If you need a little bite to eat, pop on over to The Crumpet Shop located on the 1st avenue side of the market. They have both sweet and savory options and they are simply delicious, especially when they are hot out of the oven!

3. For a break from all the crowds, make your way to the recently opened MarketFront and grab a beer at Old Stove Brewing, (which is also kid friendly). There are amazing views of Elliott Bay/Puget Sound, the Seattle Great Wheel, and you can watch all the ferries coming and going. If beer isn’t your thing, there are other vendors located inside, such as Indi Chocolate if you’re in the mood for something sweet!

I don’t know about you, but this sounds like the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Seattle, especially if you have never been! If you get a chance to go, leave me a comment and tell me what you did and how you liked it!

What I Wore To Pick Out Our First Christmas Tree!

GET THE LOOK:

Hat | Vest | Sweater | Turtleneck | Jeans | Boots | Sunglasses

On Saturday, Nate and I bought our first Christmas tree together! It would have been super fun to drive out to a tree farm and cut down our own, but we had a pretty packed weekend, so decided to go to local lot near the apartment. I wanted to look festive so I opted for my favorite little reindeer sweater, which is very holiday-centric because I figured, what better place to wear it when picking out a Christmas tree, right?!

SHOP THE LOOK:

And now a few iPhone pics from our day…

This photo cracks me up because we were so excited about our tree and wanted to capture the moment. I handed my phone to the guy who was helping us load it up onto the car, and before I could make any suggestions on how I wanted the photo taken, he snapped the picture, handed the phone back to me and said “that ok?”. This photo has now become a huge joke between me and Nate and we laugh every time we look at. It seriously looks like we placed the phone on the hood of the car, set a self timer and hoped for the best haha!

We ran out of lights, so the bottom half still needs to be wrapped but you can see some of the ornaments we decorated with below, which are mostly from my Grandparents throughout my childhood. We are going to add in some of Nate’s as well, but I can’t wait to start collecting our own especially because this holiday marks our first Christmas together!

Merry, merry! Hope you all have a great day today and thanks for stopping by! xo

Shopping for New Year’s Eve Trends at The Mills at Jersey Gardens!

Hi guys! Hope everyone’s week has been going well. I am so excited it’s Thursday because well, this has been a long week, but also I finally get to share with you a fun partnership I have been working on! The Mills at Jersey Gardens, which is New Jersey’s largest outlet and value retail center with over 200 stores under one roof, located in Elizabeth, NJ asked if I would do a fun shop along out at the mall to find some festive pieces for New Year’s Eve and offer some fun tips and advice surrounding the biggest trends for the upcoming holiday!

I will also be doing a takeover on The Mills at Jersey Gardens Instagram, which will bring to life all the fun finds you’ll see below, so make sure to follow along on their feed: @millsatjersey!

Fun fact: Research shows that outlet mall shopping is currently trending as more and more people are searching for ways to stay fashionable without breaking the bank. Since 2013, total outlet industry sales have risen to $45.6 billion, solidifying consumer interest in value retail sales. If you are unfamiliar with outlet shopping, I highly recommend it – so many great brands available at amazing prices

It’s kind of crazy to me that we are already talking about New Year’s Eve because I feel like I’m still back in November, but believe it or not, the holiday is less than a month away! A few major trends I think will be huge for NYE are velvet, metallic, sequins, beaded and anything and everything sparkly! Let’s take a look…

First stop…Saks Fifth Avenue Off Fifth!

How incredible are these NYE dresses I found in Saks Fifth Ave Off 5th. I love how each dress is so different, yet still on trend and has its own personality.

SHOP:

Next up, H&M! About to dive in and see what fun NYE dresses and trends I can find!

Loving the sparkly material of this dress, plus how fun are the sleeves?! I could see wearing this piece with some sheer black tights and a cute pair of velvet high heel Mary Janes!

SHOP:

Stopped into Express afterwards…I can’t get over these amazing NYE finds! A few of my favorite holiday trends all in one dressing room (velvet, beaded, sparkly goodness) – what’s better than that?! I might have to snag the velvet romper and take it home with me…

SHOP:

What types of trends and dresses are you into this year for the holidays? Are you all about the velvet pieces like I am, or is a sequin number more your style? Let me know in the comments! xo

A little bit more about The Mills at Jersey Gardens: “A shopper’s paradise, The Mills at Jersey Gardens is anchored by top outlets including Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, Neiman Marcus Last Call, Century 21, Marshall’s, and the best brand outlets including Michael Kors, Coach, Calvin Klein, Banana Republic, Nike, True Religion, Nautica, PUMA and Guess. The center also offers the largest Tommy Hilfiger in the US. With daily transportation from both the Port Authority Bus Terminal and Newark Liberty International Airport, the center is a great day-trip out of the hustle and bustle of New York City and features tax-free shopping on clothes and shoes.”

Live in Layers with Cuddl Duds

December means so many things to me: celebrating Christmas with my family, watching all my favorite holiday movies over and over again with my best friend, sitting by the fire with Susan (my cat) and catching up on the latest New Yorker, snuggling up on my bed with the paper and a hot latte. Basically just slowing down and savoring my time and soaking in true relaxation.

Something else I love to do when I am home for the holidays is stay in my PJs all day. There is nothing better than the feel of fleece – the soft material is ideal for ultimate warmth and comfort – especially when it’s freezing outside and you have nowhere else to be but inside, staying cozy!

I recently decorated the living room and fireplace mantle (read: the day after Thanksgiving) and it has now become my favorite place to sit on weekend mornings with fresh coffee and whatever magazine I am currently catching up on. Susan occasionally joins me out of curiosity and if I’m lucky, will tolerate a few minutes of snuggles and cuddles.

Next to sitting in front of a warm fire in my PJs with a cup of coffee and excellent reading material, my other favorite place to curl up and relax is in bed. But instead of crawling back into tangled sheets and a rumpled comforter, I like to actually make sure my bed is made first, then I grab a cozy blanket and climb back on top of covers for an hour or two of relaxation and reading. It makes the experience feel that much more luxurious.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Shop my pajamas here and my socks here!

Make sure to tune into QVC on December 1st starting at 12AM EST for only 24 hours to grab a Cuddl Duds fleecewear stretch novelty pajama set (or two!) of your own with the special value price of $26.98! The sets come in red/plaid, heather gray/plaid, pink/animal, black/fair isle and teal/chevron in sizes S/M, L/XL, and 2X/3X.
