H&M Sunnies and Trench / J.Crew Necklace and Silk Tank / Lauren by Ralph Lauren Belt and Shoes (c/o) / Coach Watch c/o) / Zara Skirt / Christian Siriano “Exotic Wing Flap” Bag for Payless (c/o)
Do you ever have those moments where you see an item of clothing and you are so taken with it that it becomes all-consuming? Well, that was me with this skirt. The first time I saw it was about a week ago when I was browsing around in Zara with a friend. I saw it on a mannequin and began frantically searching for it. Of course they didn’t have my size and then were plum out of it when I checked back later that week. Me = One unhappy camper.
Then, this past weekend, the clothing Gods shared the wealth and offered it up while I was at another Zara shopping with a client. All hope was not lost! I saw the distinct blue peeking out of a random clothing rack in the dressing room and like a ninja snagged it stealth-style. Don’t worry, I didn’t steal it from anyone, it had previously been discarded by someone else. Their loss.
I’m not sure what it is about this skirt that has prompted me to write an entire blog post about it (riveting, isn’t it?) but I think it’s the shade of blue that sparked my interest. These photos make it look like it’s bright blue but it’s actually more of a periwinkle. That happens to be my favorite color, so that probably had a lot to do with it. That, and apparently my subconscious held onto these images from Beth’s post on wide stripes and requested that I own something similar. As it seems, I now own a couple things similar to the items in said post. Check out the the photo on the right…her shirt looks extremely similar to the skirt I wore yesterday, non? And now this wide striped skirt. Oi. When my subconscious wants something, it means business and gets the job done.
P.S. Can’t wait to wear this skirt in Paris!

Not sure if I could pull off the striped skirt on my pear shaped figure, but it looks great on you. Your necklace is gorgeous. I would be lying if I said that us southern girls didn’t have a penchant for pearls, real or costume.

Love the outfit. The mix of colors are awesome!

Umm … I totally know what you mean about stalking/obsessing over clothes. Those green wedges and sleeveless trench coat you have been wearing? Obsessed! But since I live far, far away from a city or a mall, and can’t find either online, I will just have to keep obsessing from afar. :)

God, you are seriously amazing! The way you embody classic American style is so beyond, but then the fact that you can put your own stamp on it and make it your own is what keeps me coming back. And yes, this skirt is to die for.

I absolutely love this skirt, and I love how you paired it with the salmon color top. Great look! I would have been sad too if I wouldn’t have found it.
