The other night I went and had the most yummy meal at Bastille and then went out for drinks in Ballard. I decided I wanted to dress up for fun so I chose my newly hemmed dress that I found at B.E. Remember how it originally looked? Thanks to my lovely Grandmother, it is now a few inches shorter and much more wearable. I did, however, get a few comments regarding the ribbon on the original hem, asking if I was going to keep it, but I decided that the dress was more versatile with just the two colors— blue and white. (I think I will do something fun with the leftover fabric…maybe I will make a new band for my hat!) What do you think of the yellow belt? I think it helped make the whole dress pop, but may try other options in the future. Also, don’t you love those crisscross straps? And, how great is it when dresses and skirts have pockets? It’s my favorite thing.

All in all, I had a great time out on the town and felt pretty as a princess all night long!

P.S. Check out the original photo here. Side note…the dress is actually a deeper navy, but for some reason in the photo above it looks lighter…blame it on the glorious sunlight I guess! :)

LOVE IT!!! Yeah, you can totally add the pop of difference with belts. It’s almost better that way then having the ribbon would be.

I never would have thought to pair a bright yellow belt with a navy dress but it looks spectacular.

I love it this way! I agree with the two-color decision. Think of all the options you have now- red jackets, the yellow belt…it makes the dress more versatile.

My favorite thing about this dress is the back! That is adorable.

perfecto alteration and accessorizing… go grandma and her hemming skills and your fashion sense :) i think the bottom ribbon would look great for the hat or a head scarf or a belt… endless options for a simple strip of fabric :)

LOVE the back of that dress! Looks great hemmed and I’m glad you’re going to use the color part of the fabric for something else because it was pretty. Definetely more versatile now. The yellow belt is awesome with it!
