F21 Necklace / H&M Top, Pants, Wedges / Coach Bag (gift)

I can’t reveal all the details yet, but I took a little trip to the Alma G Salon to get all gussied up for a video shoot I did this past Tuesday. (Let’s just say, if you live in New York, look for me on Taxi TV during September Fashion Week!) The talented women at the salon did a fabulous job, including Alma herself who gave me a lovely wavy blow out and Veronica who did my makeup. I left feeling all dolled up, only to head directly out into a terrential downpour. Thank goodness for cabs. The shoot itself went swimmingly and I had a great time with the team chatting about various fashion and beauty topics.

Later on that evening, I grabbed dinner with one of my best friends and quickly changed into these burnt orange shorts keeping the main accessories the same. I can’t seem to get enough of this top, and the fact that I think polka dots are going to be huge for fall, I couldn’t be happier with it!

{ These pretty little Olsenboye (Marykate and Ashley;s line for JC Penney) booties were sent to me and I liked how they almost matched the color of the skirt. I was feeling the pinky nudes and soft beiges with only a pop of pink offered by the flamingos on the shirt. Sometimes it’s fun to be color blocked with bold hues and other times monochromatic is the way to go, as in the case of this outfit. A fun little teaser…I teamed up with Olsenboye and will be doing a fun giveaway later today, so definitely check back to see what you could win! }

On Monday, Krystal and I kicked off our second remix challenge (see the first one here) and both wore faux fur on our first go-around. Go figure. It was sort of funny to see that we came up with such similar ensembles, but doesn’t surprise me because for the most part, we have basically the same taste.

For this remix, I think I was subconsciously channeling an 80′s wall street-meets-Miami Vice chic. Who knows if that makes any sense but that is what it feels like to me. I think it has something to do with mixing flamingos in with a vintage cream linen blazer (shoulder pads still in place) and an oversized furry coat, no?

Yep, that’s the same trapeze top that I wore last weekend and early in the day yesterday. I told you I was determined to do a remix challenge with myself! So, I decided to try and work it into my “movie premiere outfit,” and ended up really liking the contrast of the gray stripes against peachy ruffles.

The night started out back at the Millennium Hotel, where I joined up with Jessica, Keiko and Jordana to play with some of HP’s new nifty gadgets, as well as getting a fun group shot taken.

Next came, limo rides over to The Paris theater, where I indulged in a bag or (two) of popcorn, and thoroughly enjoyed watching Sex and the City 2. It was total eye candy. The clothing, the girls, the scenery… everything was beautiful, and it was funny too. I was pleased. : )

Afterwards, we walked around the corner into Bergdorfs, which was totally decked out and had lots of yummy Middle Eastern food to munch on, as well as champagne to sip. We fully indulged ourselves to say the least.

Finally, we ended our evening by strolling down Fifth Avenue in the warm spring evening, snapping photos and being girly. Thank you so much to everyone who had a part in making this lovely evening happen! xoxo

It’s nothing new that I love me some stripes, so when I first saw this Breton striped boatneck sweater on one of the mannequins at the Gap, I was immediately in love. I ducked into the store but for the life of me could not find it anywhere! After searching a few more locations, I ended up snagging it at the store on 42nd street, and got it for 40 percent off with a coupon! Score. Upon bringing it home, I immediately starting brainstorming how I was going to wear it. That’s when I saw my striped dress draped on the couch. Bingo! Stripes on stripes! What’s better than that?!

I am going out to dinner with one of my best friends for dinner tonight and think that I will wear this outfit since the weather has been cooperating lately. Happy Friday! Have a lovely weekend. xoxo

Alright, seriously. Check out this girl’s style. She writes the very cool blog, Second Skin, which I found her via What I Wore. I have to agree with Jessica, she is totally adorable and very inspiring. Take the outfit above, for example. I have been in a bit of an outfit funk since I got back to New York because all my clothes seem wrinkled and it is just so dang cold out. But, one look at this ensemble and I perked up. I am going to try and use this look as inspiration for an outfit to come, either tonight—going to hear Passion Pit (!)— or this weekend, which is my best friend’s Birthday party. So, stay tuned!

I’m so happy it’s Wednesday. That means that it is half way  to the weekend and a week away from when I take off for Seattle. Two really happy thoughts, but that are slightly trumped by the fact that I have been feeling really under the weather lately. My sinuses are feeling out of control! I believe my exact words earlier this week were, “I feel as if my sinuses are strangling my face.” Okay, that is quite an image, but has anyone else ever felt like that?!

Anyway, I apologize for the lack of daily photos, I will post one very soon, I promise. But, in the mean time, I wanted to put the spotlight on some other fantastic bloggers. Flashback: Mid-August on a carefree afternoon in Seattle. (Photos taken in my parent’s lovely backyard.) The temperature oustide was in the high-70s with sunshine and a light breeze.

Current day: Mid-October on a dreary afternoon in New York. The temperature outside is in the low 40s with rain and wind.

I was out in this rainy weather all morning and was finally able to come home this afternoon, take a hot shower, and make a fresh cup of coffee. I put on my comfy clothes, which at the moment, consists of a white furry hooded zip-up vest, a deep purple jersey dress-turned-nightgown, and bunny slippers. I must be channeling Jessica here! Anyway, as I got up to change my music selection from Frank Sinatra to Michael Buble, I pulled up my blinds for a moment and stared out at the rain coming down. I immediately thought back to my lovely summer at home in Seattle, and that’s when I remembered these photos. I had been holding on to them for a moment just like this. A moment where you need to be reminded that sun does exist, what it’s like to be dry when walking outside, and what it’s like to go barefoot in your backyard. These photos make me so happy, so I hope by sharing them with you, that the lighthearted energy behind each photograph shines through, and that the sun peeking through the back garden gate might add a little extra cheer to your day. xoxo

I’m back from my Brooklyn breakfast date with Jess and feeling rejuvenated and ready to work, just like I always do whenever I am finished hanging out with this inspirational go-get-’em girl. This morning it was a cool 55 degrees so I felt the need to break out my new wool gray tights. As per usual, my outfit usually develops from one item in particular—today, tights being said item—and so I decided to rock my plaid “winter shorts” with my tall suede equestrian-esque boots. The forecast said it would gradually get warmer, so I opted for no coat, but threw on a wool pinstripe blazer and turtleneck instead, along with my favorite red plaid Christmas scarf to give the muted outfit a pop of color. I popped on the hat for an added touch for fun. I meant to take more detail shots, but my camera battery started to die, but can you see the two patterns of the jacket and shorts against each other? I like the contrast of the three color palettes—red, gray and light tan—mixed together, and the plaid versus stripe. Man, I love pattern mixing.

So, before the craziness of fashion week started, but right after I got back from Seattle, I went dancing with my friend Lex and her boyfriend. I got so caught up with FW that I forgot to post these, so sorry for the delay! But, my intention in having her snap these photos, was to show yet another fun way to wear denim. I am sure you remember these wide-legged beauties when I wore them here and then again, here, and now, here they are again—on a random night out in NYC. One reason I am sharing these photos/outfit with you guys is because I think it’s important to continually incorporate denim into your wardrobe, but to try and keep it fresh and interesting. For instance, this outfit isn’t particularly innovative or exciting, but in my opinion, what keeps you guessing, is the massive bell bottom that unassumingly pops out at you. What do you guys think of this style of denim? Be nice! :)
