I still have some photos left over from Seattle, so don’t let the background throw you off. I feel like comfort has been a theme with me lately and this outfit definitely fits into that niche. These pieces are probably some of the most cozy and comfortable items of clothing I own (apart from my oversized red Ranger’s sweatshirt) and when worn all together, it feels like heaven. So if you ever need a surefire recipe for the double C (comfort+cozy) just mix together, flannel, fleece shearling and something with lycra in it, (I opt for stretchy leggings), and you are all set. Definitely try this at home.

Lately I have been into autumn neutrals, such as burnt orange, rust, gray, army green and every shade of mauve and beige I come across. I love tossing all these colors together and seeing what happens.

{ It’s no secret that I love J.Crew and their catalogs and styling, so I was convinced that this particular outfit belonged in their next lookbook.  I am also convinced that J.Crew should scoop me up and have me as their next guest stylist. La-da-dee-da-da-da. A girl can dream, no? }

Anyway, daydreaming aside, I was pretty happy with this outfit and plan to try different versions of this look throughout the season.

P.S. Can you believe that tomorrow is December 1st? That means Christmas is right around the corner, which means flying home to Seattle is right around the corner as well. I. CAN’T. WAIT. xoxo

So, clearly I broke down and bought the ever-so-beautiful cape that I posted about last week. Then, after chatting with my friend Krystal, she told me she bought it too, so we decided to team up this week and do a style challenge! For this first post, I decided to start off simple and just style it in a very classic way. Over the course of the week I plan on getting much more creative and really style it up, but in the meantime, I give you my first cape outfit: classic, simple, chic. I met my good friend Carolyn for lunch yesterday and she was kind enough to snap a few shots before heading back to the office. She was also kind enough to let me trot around in her 5-inch YSL pumps (since I was wearing flats) for my photoshoot.

My outfit was fairly simple and all black except for the bit of sparkle that hung around my neck. Sometimes wearing all black is the way to go . Don’t get me wrong, I can’t wait to wear my plum-colored tights for the first time this season, but head to toe black makes me feel very demure and classic, like Audrey Hepburn. Anyway, there wasn’t  much rhyme or reason as to how I put this ensmeble together or the items involved, other than quite honestly, they happen to be two of my favorite simple black pieces that I own. Easy peasy.

During Fashion Week, I managed to sneak away one night to spend a much needed evening with one of my best friends who had just flown in from Seattle, and a bunch of our close friends for a girly girl’s night. Upon arrival to my friend Patricia’s apartment, I was immediately handed a glass of wine and a bag with a few pieces of clothing that she was giving away. At the end of the night, I walked out with a new pair of Michael Kors strappy sandals and this awesome, retro acid wash micro mini skirt!

I wasn’t sure if I could actually pull off this skirt, but a few days later, on a lazy Saturday, I decided to bite the bullet, shimmied into it and went strolling through Soho with my good friend Lex in search of  a yummy brunch.

This skirt will always remain a statement piece, but when paired with an oversized solid-colored top and basic flats, the “loudness” of this mini is taken down a few notches, and becomes quite wearable. It also has a stretchy waistband, which bodes well when eating a big brunch. :)

P.S. I want to really start gearing up my remixes for the fall, and I think this would be a fun challenge to take on, don’t you think?

I love this blouse so much that I decided to wear it again a couple days later. But this time it was on a dinner date with A in New York, where the weather was much warmer. I decided to keep with the denim theme, but in the version of a skirt, and since it was a date, I opted for my lace up heels. Easy peasy!

Did you all have a happy long weekend? I know I did…lots of relaxation and family time, which was definitely needed. As for today’s post, these photos were taken in downtown Seattle last week. My lovely friend Nicole was my patient photographer and I think she took got some pretty cool shots. We don’t have alleys in New York so this particular alleyway acted as a simple yet great backdrop for my spontaneous photoshoot.

As for the outfit: This is a fairly simple ensemble, but I felt very feminine in it, mostly because of the sheer blouse that I finally found at Urban Outfitters. This particular top has been sold out in New York for months, but magically I spotted it in the downtown Seattle location during a shopping trip with Alex, and was ecstatic. I picked up a few other great sale items as well, which I am looking forward to wearing next week during Fashion Week.

Usually when I am putting an outfit together, I tweak it until it’s just right, but don’t usually end up photographing the in-between stages. Except the other day, I did for some reason and realized it could turn out to be a fun post to show how my look evolves before the final product emerges.

In this case, the two photos above show the original version of this outfit. I chose a very simple look, with wide-legged, light colored denim and minimal accessories. However, after looking at the images on camera, something was off, and I decided it needed a little “umph.”

So, I chose to don my frames, and add an eclectic colorful clutch.

Still not quite satisfied, because I still felt like something was off, I decided to change my denim choice. So instead, I opted for a pair of skinnies in a dark wash, and added my snakeskin printed scarf for some more flair and a little pattern play.

Et, voila! Sometimes it just takes a bit of tweaking, playing and trying different options before you get the look just right, but it’s worth it in the end.

Hello, loves! Sorry for the radio silence, I was traveling back from a long weekend in Cape Cod for a friend’s wedding. And now, I’m flying home to Seattle this morning (woo!), for a lovely two weeks with the family, and to attend another wedding! But before I left, I was lucky enough to snag this new Zara Terez clutch before I hopped on a plane to head out west. I collaborated with Tweet My Bag and Zara, the designer, and am showcasing this bag for the next week or so. Regarding Zara’s collection, I have to say, when I was first shown her bags, specifically the Nolita clutch, I instantly fell in love with the shape and all the different colors it came in. I chose the hand-embroidered tapestry version because of the mixed eclectic pattern. And, not only is the outside of the bag gorgeous, but Zara spares no detail even when it comes to the inside of the bag. See below…

As for the ensemble du jour: I like stripes, I like nude/peach/blush-colored items, and I like bold patterned scarves, especially when used in place of a statement necklace. So, basically I just combined a few of my favorite things and this is what emerged. To be honest, I got dressed in about five minutes, with minimal makeup and my hair pinned back in a bun, before running out the door to have an early dinner with the lovely Karen and her sweet friend Kendra. Afterward, I headed over to my friend Becky’s apartment for a glass of sparkling wine to toast her recent engagement! Yay! Congrats my love! xoxo

TGIF! I am so ready for Saturday and Sunday to be here.

Here is what I plan on doing this weekend:

Sleep in. Drink lots of tea and coffee. Eat eggs and french toast at brunch. Walk around TriBeCa. Snap random photographs. Hold hands with A. Sip wine at dinner. Sing along to Mary Poppins (we might go see it this weekend!). Sunbathe (with sunscreen) in Central Park with friends. Drink more tea. Eat at Whole Foods’ Sushi Bar. Sit on magic couch with A and watch TrueBlood. Sleep for eight hours.
