These alligators blended in so well with the water. They would sneak/swim right up to the boat out of nowhere!
The guide fed them marshmallows, which they loved. ( The guide assured us that feeding them this treat is not actually bad for them – phew!)
I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the trees and Spanish moss that seemed to be everywhere. I didn’t grow up with vegetation like that so it was fascinating to me.
I spy a little turtle!
Overall it was a really great trip. It’s fair to say that I spend a lot of time down in New Orleans, but this time I was lucky enough to see Louisiana in a different light than before. I especially loved capturing different shots on the plantation and during the swamp tour since I had never really ventured outside the city limits, so I saw things with fresh eyes for sure. I also had such a fun time playing around with the different cameras and lenses, chatting with the Olympus team and meeting everyone that was a part of our group. Thanks for having me Olympus, I had a blast! xo
We drove back from Orange Beach, Alabama yesterday and spent the rest of the late afternoon walking around The Warehouse District where my friend Lauren lives (and generously let us stay while we were in town). The light was so beautiful, which of course led to an impromptu photo shoot. I feel like it’s finally summer, at least in New Orleans where it was 80 degrees today, so I went all out with mixing and matching bright colors and patterns.
Spent this past weekend in New Orleans (more on that part of the trip later this week) and then headed out to Orange Beach in Alabama to be with friends for Hang Out Fest. It was an absolute blast. I’m about to hop in the car and head back to Louisiana so I’ll keep it short and let the pictures do the talking. Hope y’all had a great past few days! xo
I’ve been in New Orleans since Wednesday and have definitely been enjoying the warmer climate. One of the main reasons I flew down here was to host a fun styling workshop with a group of girls during fashion week. More to come on that next week, but in the meantime, here are some photos from the past few days!
Loved walking past this guy in the By Water. Just sitting on his porch, enjoying his Sunday and playing music.
Some of the brightest houses I’ve seen in America.
My good friends waiting for coffee outside Booty’s. If you’re ever in New Orleans, make sure to swing by their shop, which is a combination of his barber shop called Gaudet Bros and her vintage store called Hazel & Florange. Located on 2700 Chartres.
Happy Monday! Did everyone who lives on the east coast survive the freezing weather this weekend? I spent most of Saturday cuddled up on the couch, watching movies and eating pizza with my best friend from college who was here visiting from Seattle. Because, when it’s 18 degrees outside, I find it more relaxing to browse the web looking at outfits I can wear in 70-degree weather and planning mini trips to warmer climates, instead of venturing outside and freezing my face off.
Luckily, I’m getting a little reprieve from this cold snap and heading to New Orleans in just over two weeks. (I will be hosting a fun styling workshop while I’m down there but more on that later!) Whenever I head to the south I find that my style steers away from anything black and edgy, and instead I’m drawn to more girly, feminine pieces in pastels. I think it has to do with the fact that when I’m down in Nola, there are brightly painted houses, remnants of Mardi Gras decorations and amazing architecture everywhere you look. It truly inspires me in a way different than any other town or city I’ve visited.
The south is a charming and special place, and I hope to keep exploring and visiting other towns such as Nashville and Charleston sooner than later, but in the meantime, in lieu of my upcoming trip, I decided to create a few outfits that I could see myself wearing while I’m down in the bayou.

P.S. Guilty pleasure alert – Bravo’s new show Southern Charm is debuting tonight at 10 EST. Who’s going to watch?

This is a very typical outfit for me when I’m running around taking care of random errands. Last week, my dear friend Andi gave me this tee, which is from her recent line, Hazel & Florange. This is one of my favorite tops from the collection. Not only do I love what it says, but the material is extremely soft and I love how it’s two sizes too big. Then a couple days ago, I picked up these oversized jeans at Zara, which also fit on the baggier side. Do we see a trend here? Seriously, I love things that are slouchy because they make me feel so much more comfortable, especially when schlepping around the city all day. What’s your go-t0 errand outfit when out and about?
P.S. If you live in New Orleans or plan on visiting soon, you should head on over to Andi’s shop in the Bywater, that she shares with her lovely boyfriend, Micah, who runs the hair salon, Gaudet Bros. He is also a dear friend of mine and a very talented hair stylist who was kind of enough to take time out of his busy schedule and fix me up while I was in town last week. :)

Happy Friday! I’m down in New Orleans right now enjoying the warmer weather, good friends and of course, the amazing food. I packed pretty lightly for this trip, but did manage to bring one nicer outfit with me, which happened to be the look I wore to my Top Shop for Nordstrom event last week. The party was so fun. My friends and family were there, plus I got to meet some sweet readers and help people shop the new collection. You can buy online here!
Today’s Friday Favorites is inspired by New Orleans and Jazz Fest. I am down here this weekend and wanted to come up with some cute outfits to wear over the next few days especially since it’s supposed to be 70 degrees and sunny. I think the key to enjoying yourself at any outdoor festival or activity is to be comfortable so for me it’s a variation of the outfit above. For those of you that are musical festival fans, what are your go-to pieces to stay comfortable but still feel cute? xo
