I love the excuse to wear a long gowns so when Fame and Partners asked if I wanted to try some of their dresses, I was super excited. I chose these styles and couldn’t love them more. These two looks are for the girl who loves a fancy night out and will take any excuse to get all dolled up. Lately I haven’t had a ton of opportunities to get super dressy so it was so fun to break out these gowns and style them up!
P.S. One fun thing: I wore my favorite tassel earrings with each look, which is the champagne shimmer, but didn’t realize that the color would blend in so well with my hair! So I’m sorry if you can really see them very well but you can shop a bunch more colors here by clicking on the image below…
Continuing the week of holiday dressing! For these next two looks I went with bright and sparkly for a change of pace. I originally pictured myself wearing this bright fuchsia number in the spring but then I thought, why not wear it around the holidays for a fun twist versus opting for the typical black or red skirt!
(If you missed the previous post, click here to see the first two outfits from Tuesday.)
Truth be told, this is actually a skirt! It didn’t fit me quite right so I played around with it a bit and decided to see what it looked like as a dress. (I linked to a bunch of cute sequin dresses below so you can get this look.) Instead of a black or nude pump, I chose a light pink heel for a pop of color.
P.S. Fun fact: I wore these favorite tassel earrings with each look, which is in champagne shimmer, but didn’t realize that the color would blend in so well with my hair! So I’m sorry if you can really see them very well but you can shop a bunch more colors here by clicking on the image below…
My last and final section of this year’s gift guide is finally here! This roundup is one of my favorites because I am really into decorating my apartment right now and wanting to find little touches to make the place really feel homey and warm, so I basically want all these things for my place!
Last week I partnered with Absolut Vodka and tried out their new mobile site, Hoppr by Absolut, to host a fun holiday party. Before I share about my little soiree, let me tell you a little more about Hoppr. Specific to the New York City area, the mobile site connects partygoers and throwers in a whole new way, allowing hosts to post their parties and guests to RSVP in order to unlock unexpected social connections.
Simply head to AbsolutHoppr.com and log in through your Facebook account and then choose if you are looking to host a party in the area or attend one. But don’t worry, the host and potential guest have to mutually agree to share information and only then will addresses and details of the party be shared, so it is completely safe!
So back to my party…I originally wanted to host a gathering at my apartment, but since it’s on the smaller side, I wasn’t sure how many people it could hold comfortably. Luckily for me, my sweet friends, Helena and Keiko let me decorate and set everything up at Brooklyn Brigade, their studio space, which boasts lots of room and has a great rustic wooden farm table, which I used as my inspiration when planning out my theme. For snacks, I picked up yummy cheese, meats and crackers, plus some olives and veggies, and created a festive drink I like to call the Cranberry Kiss. (See recipe below!) We danced to all our favorite Christmas songs, snapped goofy photos and generally had a great time ringing in the holiday season!
1.5oz Absolut Original Vodka
A splash of Club Soda
2oz of sparkling wine
Cranberries to float on top
Tip: Use frozen cranberries in place of ice cubes to keep your drink cool without it getting watered down.
Can you believe that Christmas is only a month away? That blows my mind. Where does the time go?! I think I must say, and feel that way every year, but still. Anyway, with the holidays just about in full swing, I wanted to kick things off by rolling out the first category of the My Style Pill Gift Guide, The Hostess!
I love shopping for these types of gifts so naturally it was the first section that I wanted to post, but sometimes it can be hard to come up with options that are not only thoughtful but affordable too. I rounded up ten of my favorite things at all different price points (who doesn’t love cute champagne flutes or fancy chocolate?) and am excited to share them with you guys. Happy shopping!
1. Mini Donut Maker Whip up a quick batch of six delicious, perfectly shaped mini donuts at home without the fuss of filling the deep fryer or firing up the oven.
2. Assorted Toasting Flutes An elegant set of 6 stemless champagne flutes. Each glass has a metallic, celebratory phrase in a different language.
3. All In Good Taste Book Filled with how-tos, personal essays, anecdotes, recipes, and a liberal dash of style, all in good taste will transform you into the hostess with the mostest.
4. Diamond Ice Cube Tray Flexible silicone ice cube tray that produces diamond-shaped ice cubes. Fits six ice cubes at a time.
9. Bodum Copper Coffee Collection Sip your coffee in style with this sleek Coffee Set from Bodum. Each Chambord-inspired piece features a glass vessel and sturdy copper-finished steel body.
10. GlassyBaby Candle Holders (plus tea lights) This company started in Seattle, Washington and primarily carries handmade glass votives, known as a “glassybaby”. There are more than four hundred colors and the company donates money from sales to charities helping cancer patients with costs during chemotherapy, and other charities “dedicated to healing”.
Happy Tuesday, everyone! I am so excited because I am flying to Seattle today for the holidays. I can’t wait to see my friends, family and of course, Barney! I packed this skirt with me and plan on wearing it on New Year’s Eve with Casey. Not sure what we are doing yet, but regardless, I always like to dress up a bit and this number is the perfect piece to work into my outfit. The tiny scallops, box pleats and silvery fabric add a festive touch and gives off a sweet and feminine vibe, which I really like. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to show you easy ways to style it up, simply by changing out the top and necklace, creating two different fun and festive looks!
Here is a festive and cheerful post for you guys because honestly, the weather here is proving to be a bit difficult at times. But knowing you guys are there along side me, makes it so much better! So, thanks for that. xo
I was asked to partner up with Rent the Runway and Pantene Pro-V to create a festive holiday post seeing that the party season is officially here. It was perfect timing because I had a very fancy soiree to go to at the Trump Soho with Casey and was really excited to get all dolled up.
When doing my hair for a dressy event, I like to keep it simple and straight forward by narrowing my products down three: a dry shampoo, a flexible hair spray and hair creme to smooth down flyaways.
Since growing out my hair, I have really been into wearing it down and wavy. To achieve the look I wanted, I needed to create tight curls and then be able to brush them but have them still stay semi intact. Since I started with clean hair, I needed to create the texture and hold I wanted, so I sprayed my hair with dry shampoo and hairspray before using my curling iron.
After my hair was all bouncy and tightly curled, I sprayed it one more time with hairspray, brushed it through with a flat brush, then used the cream to shape the waves and tame any loose flyaways. Then, one final spritz of hair spray and voila, all done!
I had plans to wear the dress out later in the evening, but I knew the lighting wouldn’t be as good, so Casey and I trekked outside during the day in our ginormous sleeping bag coats and took these photos. It was about 25 degrees outside, and as crazy as it sounds and as cold as I was, we laughed our way through it. Because what else can you do? I am pretty sure the situation looked pretty comical – me in a strapless dress taking photos in the middle of the afternoon, freezing with no coat on. But it was worth it!
Later that night, I got all dressed up again, touched up my hair with all three products and bundled up to head back outside. Once we arrived at the party, we couldn’t resist taking photos out on the terrace. I absolutely love the one below that Casey captured. I was standing there posing and trying to look cute, and bam, a huge gust of wind came under my dress and almost blew it up! It was definitely my Marilyn Monroe moment, minus the subway grate. :)
Thank you to Rent the Runway and Pantene for this great partnership and to Casey for braving the cold with me and taking these photos. xoxo
