With Thanksgiving coming up, I am craving clothing in warm, spicy colors—the color pumpkin orange being at the top of my list. So, take note. The first photo is of Susan Cernek of Glamour.com, photographed by Garance Dore, which I believe was taken some time last year. Susan is such a sweetheart and has impeccable style, that I of course immediately grabbed this image and filed it away in my inspiration folder on my desktop. Then, over the weekend, I was styling one of my clients, Faye, and put together an outfit for her for Thanksgiving dinner. We ended up using her amazing orange scarf!

So, truth be told, with the holiday just a few days away, I think I am going to have to do a quick search and snap up my very own pumpkin-colored version. Thank goodness for New York street vendors and their plethora of “cashmere” scarfs. I’ll let you know what I come up with!

Whew! What a wonderful, whirlwind of a weekend, full of incredible girls, awesome activities and fantastic sponsors. I hardly stopped moving from Friday to Monday, so I am a little behind on posting…but, I now have tons and tons of cool content and photos to share, so I will be recapping everyday, along with posting my outfits I wore over this past weekend, plus my daily outfits all this week, so get ready!

So. To begin. Friday at 4:30, the Weardrobe Conference began! I have to admit, I was a little nervous to meet all the girls, but mostly just excited and curious about what the weekend was going to be like. Walking into the suite at the Gramercy Park Hotel, it was like instant eye candy to see all these stylish girls standing around chatting. I tried my hardest to be social right off the bat, but all I wanted to do was stare! Everyone looked so fabulous. But on top of that, everyone was so nice and very approachable. Once everyone arrived, we headed out to the street where Eddie, an amazing street photographer, shot every single one of us (19 girls, total!). Afterwards, we went back up to the suite where gift bags from our sponsors were waiting for us. I swear, it was like Christmas! I can’t thank these people and companies enough. Each product and brand was so amazing. More to come on that fun stuff later this week!

To wrap up the first night, we ordered pizza and sat around and just relaxed and got to know each other. Then, after a quick glass of wine with a few girls up top at the penthouse bar, I took myself home and fell into bed, exhausted but happy.

I would just like to send out a huge thank you to everyone for such an amazing first day! Check back tomorrow to hear all about our Saturday eating, shopping and thrifting in Brooklyn! How pretty is this tank?! Krystal of the awesome blog, This Time Tomorrow, wore this lovely top the other day and now I’m craving one for myself. I see a DIY project in my future…watch out MJ Trimming, here I come!

Now that it’s September, I really need to get on top of buying my “school supplies” for fall. This year, I think they will consist of this book, plus every fashion magazine possible. I’m curious though…have any of you picked up a copy of Scott Schuman’s new book? I love his blog so I would assume the book is amazing, but do you think I should purchase it? What about fashion mags? What are your absolute faves for fall? xoxo

I get such sweet comments from you guys as well as great questions regarding whatever I might be wearing, or chatting about in my posts. Here are a few that I have come across:

Q: “I Just saw (500) Days of Summer and would like to get Sugar Town (its not on the soundtrack) any idea where I can find it?”

(I recently wrote about Zooey Deschanel and how much I love her and her voice, especially the song Sugar Town that she sings in her latest movie.)

A: I actually found it available for purchase—without having to buy the entire album—as a bonus track through iTunes. Although, I love all the tracks, the whole CD is great!

Q: “I am in love with your jacket. Do you mind sharing where you got it from or what brand it is?” (Regarding the blazer shown here.)

A: I actually can’t remember when I got this jacket, but it is from Banana Republic and I have had it forever. I didn’t wear it in a casual way/style for a long time, and then one day, I feel like I pulled it out of my closet and sort of rediscovered and saw it it with fresh eyes. It is now a key staple in my wardrobe!

Q: “When you tucked your dress in, how did you avoid the bunching under your pants or shorts of the extra fabric? I always have problems with bunching when I try to tuck dresses into my bottoms.” (Regarding the striped dress shown here.)

A: A few people have asked me this, as well as where I bought my striped dress. It is originally from H&M but I bought it at Buffalo Exchange. The trick, if you are going to tuck a dress in as a top, is to use one that is already form fitting and on the tighter side so that it hugs your body. That way, when you slip on shorts or a skirt over the dress, it doesn’t bunch up underneath.

A little eye candy for you while I finish unpacking my embarrassingly large suitcase(s). This is a photo I found on Garance Dore, and I can’t seem to get enough of it. It’s already in my “inspiration” folder on my desktop, but I love it so much that I wanted to make sure you all enjoyed it as well. Those sleeves! That clutch! Not to mention her fabulous sunglasses. I am now on the lookout for a similar pair. LOVE.

Remember last week when I posted about the lovely Karla and her kickass blog? Well, here she is again! I was inspired by this outfit she’s wearing, because as much as I love tube dresses and little strapless numbers, I always feel like I am constantly yanking or tugging them up. This is because I am afraid it is going to slip a liiittle too low! But, I feel as though Karla has the answer to my problem. The next time I wear one of my strapless summer dresses, I am going to do as she does and slip a little tank top underneath. Fears of flashing random strangers, be gone!
