On Tuesday night, I went with my friends Keiko and The Owls, to a jewelry making party at Fenton/Fallon, located near the end of Freeman Alley in the LES, where we played with chains, jewels and more chains to create our very own necklaces.

The vibe was great, with India Jewel-Jackson, a.k.a. DJ Belle de Jour (she blogs for glam.com) as the DJ, (also a former intern with me at InStyle) along with yummy St. Germain cocktails made with U’Luvka Vodka, plus tasty cookies and bowls of jelly bellys! I have always wanted to make necklaces and recently have thought about trying my hand at it, so this was the perfect way to get my feet wet.

I promise to showcase my necklace soon, but in the meantime, here a few photos from the night. To see a few more, click here!

Um, is this a stroke of genius or what? The lovely Krystal, of This Time Tomorrow has gone and done it again. Not only is she an awesome person, but I love her style in general. She is always coming up with ingenious ways to wear regular pieces of clothing by adding her own twist and style. I remember back when I first started reading her blog, I went bananas over this embellished tank she wore here. So much so, that I saved the photo and tucked it away in my DIY to-do folder. I still need to get around to making a similar top, but the point is the inspiration she provided. Anyway, this time, she went and cut off the sleeves of a her trench coat and sent me into a style frenzy. Although her post was supposed to be about her cute DIY turban, I was blinded by her DIY trench. Here’s the thing. I have a trench that I bought from Banana Republic, like forever ago, and I never wear it, which is a shame, but it just doesn’t fit right. It’s too long and overall way to big. I was going to take it in and get it tailored—read: expensive—but now I am having second thoughts and might just pull out my scissors instead and take matters into my own hands…

Hope you’re all having a lovely Thursday! Outfit photo to come in a bit! xoxo

As many of you may or may not know, I work as a personal stylist and wardrobe consultant. Last week, I wore this dress (original length in top photos) on a shopping outing with Faye who is a client of mine. I tried it on with the white blazer vest and then the jean jacket, which I liked the best, but was put off by the length of the dress. So, I merely grabbed my scissors and snipped away. I took off enough fabric to now have my very own circle scarf, similar to those in American Apparel! So, if you have a jersey knit dress or skirt, which is easiest to trim yourself, just figure out where you want the hem to fall, mark it and then cut it! I must say I was extremely pleased with the end result. So much cuter when shorter!

More photos to come of Faye in her various clothing and outfits that I styled!

Happy Monday!
