My first thought after trying these pants on, besides wanting to wear them to bed, was how could I make them look chic and edgy. I think the best way to accomplish that is by adding pops of black to sharpen the overall look. With that said, I give you round two, kiddos. xoxo

Yesterday I went to Value Village and picked up six items for a total of $30. My loot consisted of: 1 blazer, 2 button-downs, 2 silk blouses and 1 pair of pants. I spotted these particular harem-type pants all by their lonesome at the front of one of the racks and decided to give them a whirl.

I was curious about where they originated from, and it said Bali on the tag, but, either way, they looked like a party to me, hence the title of this post and the pattern of the pant. On top of everything, they fit well, and felt super comfortable. (I have a inkling that after a while, they may just become my pjs, they are that soft.) Anyway, I liked them so much that I decided to do a remix challenge with them over the next few days, to see how I could work them in with the pieces of my wardrobe that I brought home.

For the first look, I wanted something super casual, but still put together, so, I pulled out the soft blue in the pants with an over-sized blue and white striped oxford that was also a thrifted find. I added my beloved wayfarers and some high heel to give the outfit some edge and a bit of sophistication. xoxo

Usually when I am putting an outfit together, I tweak it until it’s just right, but don’t usually end up photographing the in-between stages. Except the other day, I did for some reason and realized it could turn out to be a fun post to show how my look evolves before the final product emerges.

In this case, the two photos above show the original version of this outfit. I chose a very simple look, with wide-legged, light colored denim and minimal accessories. However, after looking at the images on camera, something was off, and I decided it needed a little “umph.”

So, I chose to don my frames, and add an eclectic colorful clutch.

Still not quite satisfied, because I still felt like something was off, I decided to change my denim choice. So instead, I opted for a pair of skinnies in a dark wash, and added my snakeskin printed scarf for some more flair and a little pattern play.

Et, voila! Sometimes it just takes a bit of tweaking, playing and trying different options before you get the look just right, but it’s worth it in the end.

Last weekend I drove up to Cape Cod with some friends for a very beautiful wedding by the water. I loved all the photos we took, and we had such a fabulous time that I thought it would be fun to share a few snapshots from the evening with all of you.

Hello, loves! Sorry for the radio silence, I was traveling back from a long weekend in Cape Cod for a friend’s wedding. And now, I’m flying home to Seattle this morning (woo!), for a lovely two weeks with the family, and to attend another wedding! But before I left, I was lucky enough to snag this new Zara Terez clutch before I hopped on a plane to head out west. Regarding Zara’s collection, I have to say, when I was first shown her bags, specifically the Nolita clutch, I instantly fell in love with the shape and all the different colors it came in. I chose the hand-embroidered tapestry version because of the mixed eclectic pattern. And, not only is the outside of the bag gorgeous, but Zara spares no detail even when it comes to the inside of the bag. See below…

As for the ensemble du jour: I like stripes, I like nude/peach/blush-colored items, and I like bold patterned scarves, especially when used in place of a statement necklace. So, basically I just combined a few of my favorite things and this is what emerged. To be honest, I got dressed in about five minutes, with minimal makeup and my hair pinned back in a bun, before running out the door to have an early dinner with the lovely Karen and her sweet friend Kendra. Afterward, I headed over to my friend Becky’s apartment for a glass of sparkling wine to toast her recent engagement! Yay! Congrats my love! xoxo

I guess the signs were there all along that I was clearly meant to be a fashion maven. Obviously. Check the matching shorts, sunglasses (Snoopy no less) and helmet. Yes, a fashion maven, my friends.

Ever since I was a little girl, my Mom stressed the importance of taking good care of my skin. Needless to say she looks about 10 years younger than she actually is, and that is because she takes immaculate care of her skin. So now, seeing that I am getting older, I have been trying to take better care of the one and only face I’ve got. I decided to share what I use and would love to get some more suggestions and tips on what you guys use and love! Please do share!

My Beauty Routine, Part 1:

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (not shown): I use this in the shower before I apply any toners or lotions. My skin is super sensitive and dry, but this cleanser keeps my face soft and moisturized.

Shobha Rosewater Toner Mist: Smells amazing and preps your skin before applying any other face lotions or primers.

Dove Ultimate Go Fresh Revive Deodorant in Pomegranate: I was given this at a Dove event and fell in love with its sweet, yet still very fresh scent.

Shobha Rosewater Freshening Cloths: I can’t swear by these enough. They do wonders in a pinch and feel especially amazing on your face and neck if you keep them chilled in the fridge.

Kiehl’s UV Protective Suncare Sunscreen Cream, SPF 20: A thin layer of sunscreen under primer or foundation is the best for your skin, and protects it against the elements.

Sephora’s FACE Eye Makeup Remover: I don’t know what I would do without a gentle makeup remover to erase the inevitable under eye smudge of mascara that shows up after washing I wash my face.

NP Set Pre-Foundation Bronzing Primer: I learned about primer from Keiko, and soon after recieved this product from my friend Carolyn. I don’t usually apply full bronzer to my face, but luckily it still works regardless if I add a little tan or not.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference: My Mom bought me this face cream and I love the thick and buttery texture it has, which leaves my skin silky smooth.

Yes, more black and white, my friends, plus my very first pair of nerd chic glasses, which I am excited to showcase for the first time on le blog. The great thing is, I barely even know they are there, plus I like the different look they give me.

If you’ve been reading the blog for a while, I’m sure you’ve noticed that I love to change my style and be all chamelion-like—girly one day, edgy the next. But, I do have my staple pieces I go back to, and one general accessory that I love, is a good scarf. I feel like it can act like a  necklace or statement piece when you don’t feel like wearing a lot of jewelry, or when your outfit needs a little jazzing up without a lot of effort.

In this case, my outfit is fairly plain and monochromatic, which makes this snakeskin printed scarf the perfect “umph” this ensemble needed, as well as my new glasses, of course!

Side note: For some reason I looked down in the majority of these shots. Thing is, I do have a shy side…guess I was feeling a bit bashful. Maybe it was my new glasses…

Yesterday I spent the whole day planning outfits for Thursday (more to come on that project soon) and cleaning up my room. And then all of a sudden it was time to run out to an event at Lord & Taylor with my friend Carolyn and I realized I hadn’t taken any outfit photos. I snagged my roommate and had her snap a few out in the courtyard before I sloshed my way uptown. These photos were taken literally right before it began storming like cats and dogs. Needless to say, the clogs came off and the rain boots went on.

It’s been a while since I’ve posed in front of my beloved brick wall. She has served me well and I am very grateful for her lovely backdrop.

P.P.S. All I want is to wear these clogs with wide leg jeans, but due to the humidity, that it impossible at the moment. I can’t wait for fall.

Happy Monday, everyone. I have to say the last two weeks have felt a bit like a rat race, and although the weekend just came and went, I still think it’s important to every so often, take a step back, take a break, and take a breath, when you feel the need.
