Happy Monday! I’m very excited to be kicking off a very fun and creative collaboration called the Forward Fashion Project, where I will be blogging and styling along with a handful of other awesomely talented bloggers. Basically, it’s like a big remix roundup where we each receive an item to start, style it up however we like, post it, and  then pass the item on to the next gal. Fun! So, my first item was this stunning Emily Cho clutch. Way to start off with a bang, right? Stay tuned over the next month to see what else comes my way…

Once again, the stylish Krystal and I have teamed up to do a fun remix based around a similar striped top we both own. She bought hers from Zara, I picked mine up at H&M. They are slightly different in the cut and material, but close enough for a remix challenge. She first wore her top here, I wore mine here. Today, we give you two brand new looks based around said (similar) shirt. The best part is that we kept our outfits a secret from each other until today, so I’m can’t wait to head over to her blog and see her final look! xoxo

Yesterday was like Christmas had come early. I received a ton of boxes on our front stoop and among the goods were a pair of Seychelle booties from Gilt Groupe and some lovely goodies from APART style, including this dress (worn as a top) and this reversible vest. So, with the final day of the remix challenge upon me, it was only natural to want to incorporate a few of these fantastic pieces into my overall look. And let me tell you, this outfit was a whole lot of fun to wear and traipse around in. I felt very glamourous and demure.

However, after reading this cheeky blog written up in the New York Times yesterday, I learned that apparently  my drapey/eclectic ensemble was actually a “Man Repeller” outfit. Ha! Pretty funny actually. I mean, if you think about it, most styles and outfits that we gals like, our boys are not always in favor of. Because let’s be honest, I have all the fixings here for an outfit that my guy might not appreciate so much, i.e. loose fitting clothing, long sleeves and multiple layers, plus nerd chic glasses and a hipster chic headpiece. A, are you reading? What do you think of this look? (Actually, I am really lucky, because he appreciates my style, and wants me to wear what makes me happy, even if it’s not his favorite thing.) Personally, I sort of love this outfit. It makes me feel like I belong on a a boat in the 1920′s floating down the Nile River.

As for the turban look, it’s new for me, but I have been wanting to try it for a while now. I knew it was time when Laney gifted me this chic Mike Gonzalez head-wrap the day I left for Seattle, and I think I’m diggin’ it. Thoughts? { These pretty little Olsenboye (Marykate and Ashley;s line for JC Penney) booties were sent to me and I liked how they almost matched the color of the skirt. I was feeling the pinky nudes and soft beiges with only a pop of pink offered by the flamingos on the shirt. Sometimes it’s fun to be color blocked with bold hues and other times monochromatic is the way to go, as in the case of this outfit. A fun little teaser…I teamed up with Olsenboye and will be doing a fun giveaway later today, so definitely check back to see what you could win! }

On Monday, Krystal and I kicked off our second remix challenge (see the first one here) and both wore faux fur on our first go-around. Go figure. It was sort of funny to see that we came up with such similar ensembles, but doesn’t surprise me because for the most part, we have basically the same taste.

For this remix, I think I was subconsciously channeling an 80′s wall street-meets-Miami Vice chic. Who knows if that makes any sense but that is what it feels like to me. I think it has something to do with mixing flamingos in with a vintage cream linen blazer (shoulder pads still in place) and an oversized furry coat, no?

Alright, time to head on over to Krystal’s blog to see what she came up with. Let’s go together and take a look-see, shall we?

As I mentioned last week, Krystal and I are at it again and this time decided to remix a maxi skirt that we both own. Originally I thought she only owned it in olive green, but no she loved it so much that also bought it in taupe. Nice.

So, here is my first take on dressing up this maxi skirt. These photos were shot in Union Square and it since it was pretty cold out, I decided to  wear my new, very favorite faux fur jacket with my pumpkin-colored “eternity” scarf. I call it that because it is by far the longest scarf I own and can be wrapped around my neck about ten times.

This overall look with the long skirt, turtleneck, scarf and coat made me feel very Grey Garderns. Something about being in headtoe gray/browns and all covered up…but I think mostly because of the coat. And because this look is pretty monochromatic, it was fun to show some brightly colored tights underneath my long sheathy skirt.

Yep, that’s right! Krystal, from This Time Tomorrow, and I are at it again! We teamed up and decided to do another remix challenge around this maxi skirt from Forever 21 because (shocker) we both own it. She bought it in olive green, me in taupe, but either way, it should be a fun challenge. Remix will begin next week, but in the meantime, here is a little sneak peek of the skirt.

Well, we did it! Krystal and I remixed our favorite cape simultaneously every other day last week and these are the looks we came up with. Now I will turn it over to you guys. Which one of Krystal’s ensembles do you like the best? (I love all three, but have to say I love the last one the most.) What about mine? (I actually think my favorite is the last look as well!) Happy Friday, and happy almost Halloween! What are you guys dressing up as? A and I are going as a stewardess and a pilot. Classy, huh? Should be a fun time!

Okay, onto the outfit. Today is the last day of the style challenge that Krystal and I took upon ourselves to see how we would both wear our capes this week. I always love her style and this week has proven to be no different.

So, without further adieu, I give you version three. I was trying to channel a movie star-esque vibe again so I pulled out my faux fur stole, my lace and my glittery jewels for a glam effect.
