Bougie Candles

Lately I’ve noticed that instead of buying new clothing, I’ve been splurging a bit more on nicer home accessories, such as bougie candles and stylish tchotchkes. Don’t get me wrong, I really don’t discriminate when it comes to candles as long as they don’t give me a headache and aren’t too overpowering. But there is something special about treating myself to a candle (or perfume) from Diptyque or Le Labo, that brings me joy. Maybe it’s because it feels like an affordable way to indulge in a guilty pleasure, or maybe it’s because there is something therapeutic and calming about lighting an amazing smelling candle at the end of the day. Who knows?! Regardless, life is short, so I say…treat yo’self! And with that said, I give you eight of my current favorite bougie candles worth buying. xo

2. Beach Day

After living in the city for almost eleven years, I find that at times, it can be really easy for me to slip into a routine of doing the same thing every weekend. So when SheKnows asked me to write an come up with five different ways to spice up my Saturdays, I jumped at the chance. I knew that I wanted to keep it budget friendly but also creative and fun, so if you are in need of shaking up your weekend routine, head on over to SheKnows and check out the article! xo

Hi guys! Today is a very special day because it’s my Dad’s BIRTHDAY! We are celebrating by spending some time as a family on Orcas Island, one of our very favorite Pacific Northwest getaway spots and soaking up every minute of it. I decided to try and capture the beauty of this place by making a little video for you guys, so if you would like to see, hop on over to my channel (have you subscribed yet?!) to take a look. xoxo

Spending the next two nights at the Outlook Inn.

I’m wearing Karen Walker sunglasses, J.Crew cashmere scarf (this is on sale plus an extra 30 percent off!) and denim shirt (currently 25 percent off with the code SPRINGSALE), Frame jeans and Rag & Bone booties. My suitcase was a gift from Hartmann Luggage. It has been the perfect travel companion. :)

Totally in heaven here…

A bunny!

The incredible view from our room.

Now that we are already almost a month into 2015, I wanted to take a minute and look back to last year around this time and see what I was wearing, what I was thinking and where I was at the time. Last January I was finishing up my time in Seattle and about to head back to New York to brave the snow and chilly temps. Maybe someday I will do a roundup of all the various outfits I’ve worn on the blog over the past six years but for now, here are four different outfits I wore plus some links to a handful of other fun posts I wrote during that month: 30 Things About Methree mini remix videos,  favorite detail shots, and six love versus cringe outfits. xo

Happy New Year. Welcome, 2015! (4)

Here’s to 2015. May it be an amazing, productive, inspiring, positive, exciting, passionate, happy and exhilarating year!

Love, Christine & Casey

This past weekend it was so frigid outside, it felt impossible to take any photographs of what I wore because it might require me to remove my puffy coat. So instead I snapped a few pictures from how I spent my Saturday, which included wandering around the West Village in the snow, stopping for brunch and window shopping.

Extra Virgin – one of my favorite places for brunch.

I love how they serve coffee in something that is reminiscent of a Coleman camping mug. Their mimosas are pretty great too.

I’m funny when it comes to the way I prefer my eggs benedict. I know it’s way off, but I ask for them to scramble the egg and put the sauce on the side. It still tastes amazing. :)

Love a retro bike with a wicker basket.

Pretty sure these little beauties were fake, but they still added a dose of cheerful to an otherwise dreary front stoop.
Hope you all had a warm and relaxing weekend! xo

I teamed up with BaubleBar to be a part of their first blogger style off, where myself, along with five other bloggers were asked to style up this necklace any way we wanted. I love BaubleBar (who doesn’t?!) so of course I said yes! The contest ends today, so if you like how I styled this bright and punchy necklace, vote for me here! Thanks for your support!

Next Friday I am headed back to London to see my best friend, and it got me thinking about all my favorite places I visited when I was there last May. One place in particular always makes me smile. We discovered it when we decided to hop on the tube, head over to Notting Hill to spend a lovely afternoon wandering around with no plan in mind, and ended up on Portobello Lane. It was idyllic to say the least.
While window shopping all the cute boutiques, I spotted a store across the street that had the most adorable dresses and accessories in their window. I dragged my best friend over and within five minutes I was in the dressing room with a handful of tops and skirts. I was successful in my endeavor and happily walked out of the shop with two silky pleated calf-length skirts.
I was over the moon because we were headed to Paris for the weekend and I couldn’t wait to style up my new purchases and photograph them for the blog. For those of you that have been reading My Style Pill since last year, you will mostly likely recognize both photos (shown above). I received many requests as to where one could find these skirts, so if you would like to check out their website, head to Appletree Boutique and see more of their adorable skirts here!
I cannot wait to visit Appletree Boutique again. It is the kind of store, at least for a fashion enthusiast, where you walk in and instantly feel happy, girly, excited and the overwhelming need to own everything in sight. From their scarves to their silky blouses and skirts to their friendly staff, I would highly recommend you make your way to the shop if you’re ever in London Town.
Cheers! xo
P.S. Check out the cool site, Shopikon, for more awesome shopping locations in London, New York, Barcelona and Vienna!
