Outfit Remix: One Shirt, Three Ways…Black and White Gingham

February 16th, 2010 · 14 Comments · Outfit Remixes

One gingham shirt, three different ways.

(The best part? It’s a mens shirt that was on sale for $10 at the Gap!)

Version #1: Meetings and such.

First look of the day, wearing my new gingham shirt that I got over the weekend. Wore this outfit to a meeting this morning. (I promise to divulge all the details super soon, I promise!) It was comfy and I felt put together, without looking too fussy or overly-primped.

Version #2: Knockin’ about the house

Second look of the day. I actually didn’t wear this outfit out of the house (besides to photograph it) or in public, but I just love my Target jeans and the cross-and tuck-look with this shirt so much, I knew I had to take a photo of it. Plan on wearing this combination soon, though.

***The trick to the cross-and-tuck shirt technique is to wear a thin tank underneath, that way you don’t have to worry about pinning or taping the shirt! I am wearing my gray racerback tank from American Apparel.***

Version #3: Celebration dinner!

As you all know my Godmother is in town and we went out to celebrate her Birthday tonight. I took her to Diablo Royale where we had yummy margs (mine was spicy mango!), salty chips and tasty fish tacos. YUM. I haven’t worn my sky blue jeans from Cheap Monday all that much this winter, so I thought it was time to bring ‘em out of hiding. (For those who are wondering, the white dots are snow!)

Now, tell me, which ensemble is your favorite?

(I think mine is the middle one!)

What a great find – I have to say the 3rd one is my favorite – although I love the pants in the 2nd pic a lot!

I like them all! But my favorite one is the first outfit!

I really dig all of these outfits. I’m itching to try the “cross and tuck” technique with one of my own button-downs, and you’ve also inspired me to scour the racks for some wide-legged jeans because I love yours so much.

I love the 2nd and 3rd ones the most. If I had to pick just one, I would prob go with #2! Super cute top.

I like the third one the best, I think. I could see myself wearing something like that.

Middle one for sure! Very chic!

i love outfit #2 and can not believe you got those wide leg jeans at Target. they look expensive in the photo. i also love the way you crossed the front of your shirt and tucked in. i am a menswear designer so i am always wearing mens shirts and trying to make them look feminine but have never tried the “cross and tuck” but now i will. thanks for the great post.

i love the look #2! it’s great, not too laid back but also very chic. love the wide legs. think i will try something from my own closet… and thanks for sharing that tucking-thing ;-) i always wondered how.

I just recently discovered your site (yesterday!) and I have to say I absolutely love it. I am in love with fashion, New York (though I have yet to visit..) and clothes in general. Thank you for your style stories, fun photos and adventures that I can experience through your site!
And I vote outfit number three, although I love them all. And I am a bargain shopper so the fact that you got this shirt for only $10 is great.
And one more thing! Thank you for showing me that when I buy something I can actually wear it more than once!
    :)

They’re all great. I’m digging #1 though and a sucker for big scarves. Thanks for the inspiration!

i LOVE the middle outfit. Crosstucking your shirt gives it such a styled look. Adorable in all 3 of course.
