Okay, so I have seen this jacket on a few people, Katy and Jessica to be specific, and always thought it looked great on them. So when I received it, courtesy of ModCloth, I was both excited but sort of nervous that I might not be able to pull it off. I must say that this ensemble was a bit of a stretch for me, even though I put it together, but I just felt very Michael Jackson meets John Lennon in a costumey kind of way. But I went with it and tried to totally own it as I ran around the city all day. I felt like such a brave little blogger in my new hat, (which by the way, I am slightly obsessed with) as I posed for photos on a random street in Soho, with yet again, passerbyers and random shop owners coming up to me asking me what exactly it was I was doing. I am also digging my denim too, which I am proud to say, are my good friend Devyn’s very own design from his jean line, L’eau. Check them out people, they rock!
So, now let’s chat. I would say that overall this outfit turned out well, but what do you guys think? Just a friendly reminder…remember to be kind! :)

I like all of the pieces of your outfit, but I feel like together they become almost too costumey, you are right. When I cover up the boots with my finger I like the outfit better. Perhaps since the jacket and hat are such statements on their own it would work better with a simple black flat instead of the boots, which draw a lot of attention to themselves as well.

Well, I am beginning to think that these embroidered, embellished jackets are best pulled off by the youth. You look fine, but I, turning 30 in 20 days, would look ridiculous. Dark jeans and the sailor stripe definitely pull the piece towards the classics.

i really like your look, I sported one hat last year that some of my friends called the michael jackson hat but I got tons of compliments from strangers. sometimes an outfit or article of clothing can seem costume-ee to some but others just get it

I think that jacket is a bit too trendy, but you look great in this outfit. I bought those GoJane booties in grey last winter, but haven’t found many ways to wear them as I’d like. The wash and the roll of the jean with those boots are so nice.

I’ve been looking for a vest with the same style as that jacket everywhere! Haha and just the other day, at school, my friend is wearing the same jacket you are but in black. She said she got it from H&M. I seriously need to make a shopping trip! Haha. I love this! It looks so relaxed and effortless. Great work!

I love that jacket. I had to wear one just like it in marching band in high school, it makes me wish I had kept it ;-). Love your blog btw.
